"Landrieu’s defeat is, perhaps, the most-telling defeat this election year. Landrieu was expected to run a significantly competitive race in Louisiana and many political analysts were split on whether she would win. However, the tides turned as the national elections became a referendum on the job of the President to whom virtually every Democrat had tied their wagon at one point or another.Suddenly, being an Obama loyalist was a political liability and Landrieu’s campaign began to falter."
