In the new @CBSNews poll: 74% rate the economy “good” & 52% approve of @realDonaldTrump’s handling of the economy; yet his overall job approval sits at 39%.
“The other stuff” (ie comportment etc) absolutely matters.
The affluence wrought by capitalism allows a certain class to sneer at the accomplishments of workers.
Their lack of self-awareness is hilarious.
Pundits preen on Twitter about how unpresidential his tweets are.
They call him Orange and then say he is racist.
They turned a porn star into their symbol of fidelity, and turned her attorney into the arbiter of presidential behavior.
Benson should be so elated by the accomplishments of President Trump that he overlooks a tweet or two.
Even Never Trumper Ruben Navarrette Jr. of the Washington Post has acknowledged the accomplishments in a USA Today column.
In Navarette's words, President Trump has:
►Moved the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
►Pulled the United States out of the Iranian nuclear deal.
►Stood up to NATO countries for not ponying up enough money to cover the organization’s expenses and their own defense costs.
►Took on the news media and not back down, exposing bias and agenda-driven journalism intended to run him out of office.
►Put an intense focus on immigration, the importance of border security and the cost of illegal immigration, including U.S. citizens killed by the undocumented.
►Targeted the ruthless Salvadoran street gang MS-13.
►Picked James Mattis as Defense secretary, Nikki Haley as ambassador to the United Nations, John Kelly as White House chief of staff and Kellyanne Conway as senior adviser.
►Begun a dialogue with North Korea about ending its nuclear weapons program.
►Focused attention on Rust Belt states and give respect to white working-class voters, overlooked by the elites on both coasts.
►Challenged elitism and question what it means to be “elite.”
►Created millions of new jobs (the White House claims as many as 3 million) and bring unemployment down to 3.9 percent, the lowest since 2000.
►Focused national attention on the opioid crisis, including a look at doctors who overprescribe pain pills.
►Nominated impressive Supreme Court candidates Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.
►Proposed and helped pass a tax cut and cut federal regulations.
►Pulled out of the Paris Agreement on climate change and defied global warming alarmists.
►Renegotiated unfair trade deals in search of better terms.
►Targeted racial preferences at colleges and universities, which often hurt intended beneficiaries by lowering standards.
►Refocused immigration debate by ending DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and trying to force Congress to confront the thorny issue of what to do with "Dreamers," who were brought to the USA illegally when they were kids.
►Shook up both the Republican and Democratic establishments and remain independent from the Washington cartel.
►Made politics more accessible to people who have rarely voted or cared about it, and widen the door of civic engagement.
But Navarette still wants the president impeached..."
