Rhode Island towns moving to block TCI – Boston Herald"Rhode Island municipalities are sending a message to their governor, one of the leading proponents of the Transportation Climate Initiative, by passing resolutions against it.
“Don’t make the lives harder for the people of Woonsocket because you want to join feel-good, baseless initiatives that make it tougher for people to afford to pay for their gas,” City Council Vice President Jon Brien told the Herald.
“That’s what it says.”
During a council meeting Monday, the city of Woonsocket passed a resolution in opposition to the (Mass.) Transportation Climate Initiative, a regional agreement that would raise gas prices by up to 17 cents in the first year to reduce carbon emissions.
The town of Foster did the same about a month prior..."
