"The Democrat Party has bought into Critical Theory - and its subset, Critical Race Theory, lock, stock and barrel.
Critical Theory (and Critical Race Theory) somewhat defies specific definition because it is twisted to explain every situation, but at a high level, it states that people (in the case of Critical Race Theory, those "people" are whites) construct institutional power structures designed to elevate a preferred class while systemically and systematically oppressing disfavored classes.
Supposedly, this explains persistance of racist oppression in Western Cultures that were largely invented by white northern European Christians and sustained by whites here in America.
Marxist at its root, Critical Theory also states that a primary goal of philosophy is to understand and to help overcome the social structures through which people are dominated and oppressed.
But in this postmodernist age, the identification of those who are "dominated and oppressed" - and even the definition of those terms - are relative and very, very flexible. Today, they are defined in subjective terms, much better for political advantage than objective ones. Currently, those subjective definitions stretch credulity, if someone has an iPhone 6 while another has a 11 Pro, the former is assumed to be "oppressed" by the latter.
The purpose of using Critical Theory is standard Marxism. It is used to convince people that the entire system is evil and therefore cannot be reformed, it must be destroyed and a new, more fair system rebuilt. Not so coincidentally, practitioners of Critical Theory believe that system is communism.
The basic (and fatal) flaw of Critical Theory is that it must be applied to the entire structure of society - and an expansive generalization like that is almost always incorrect. Systems and cultures are rarely totally monolithic, this is especially true in free capitalistic socioeconomic systems. People are free to believe what they want to believe in such a system - something not true in the centrally planned and controlled (authoritarian) communist systems.
While there are pockets of racism and "oppression" (depending on how those are defined) in every system, those pockets cannot be legitimately extrapolated to define the entire system. That would be like defining an entire person as chocolate milk just because they just drank a glass of chocolate milk.
The DNC began last night as a grim and morose telethon to raise support and money for those affected and infected with Critical Theory."
