Greetings, Capping off this round of the June budget cycle, local campaigns in multiple cities were successful in sustaining demands to defund police and reinvest in our communities despite President Biden’s call to spend COVID-19 recovery funds on more policing.  Communities United for Police Reform released the Path to a Safe, Healthy, and Just Recovery: Cut NYPD’s Budget & Invest in Communities report calling for a reduction in the NYPD’s budget, scope, and size, and reallocation of funds to non-police health and safety strategies in New York City’s FY22 budget.
