Biden to announce biggest permanent boost to food stamp benefits - mlive.com
"The Biden administration plans to announce the biggest long-term increase in food stamp benefits in the program’s history, giving Americans more money to buy groceries and adding billions of dollars in costs to the government.
Average benefits in October will go up by more than 25% from pre-pandemic levels for the 42 million people in the program, a U.S. official said, speaking on condition of anonymity before an announcement planned for Monday.
The increase means that average monthly benefits will rise $36 per person from $121, according to the official.

This is a reward to the Republicans, or should I say RINOs who voted for the "Bi-Partisan" infrastructure bill. Those RINOs knew that their constituents were suffering from the real inflation that was going on but was not reflected in the numbers that is reported by the method that is used to measure inflation. The last I knew, they did not include the cost of food, gasoline, and a few other things, which actually increase the real cost of living, but are not counted, for some reason. Of course they just are playing games to get the numbers that they want, as they always do.
And it actually does nothing for the many older Americans living on fixed incomes, like Social Security and pensions. You have to wonder if it might be that many older Americans vote conservatively, meaning Republican, and so the Democrats write them off, while many of those on food assistance tend to vote Democratic, and so they are sort of buying their good will, and their votes, by giving them a 25% increase in the payola. I know, such a harsh word, when food costs have really gone up. But the cost of food has gone up because of poor governmental decisions, starting with fuel costs based on things like the shutting down of the Keystone pipeline, and other things that discourage the drilling for oil and fracking for new oil and natural gas, meaning that President Biden had to recently beg OPEC to up their oil production. Making us once again dependent on foreign supplies of oil. A very bad move, and politically bad strategy that possibly could lead to military confrontation.
Combined with the recent Afghanistan mistakes that look more and more like Saigon 1975, it makes you wonder how those who voted for Biden feel right now.
