It is going around leftwing posts that Elon Musk is lying when he says that millions of dead people up to age 150 are receiving Social Security payments.

Here is how I responded to one FB friend's post, using some of CBS's material:

• Elon never said that millions of dead people were receiving SS payments. 
• He said that more than 20 million accounts are still active of persons listed with ages 100 and higher, including more than 3.9 million in the 130-139 age range, more than 3.5 million in the 140-149 range and more than 1.3 million in the 150-159 range.
• What DOGE explained was that those accounts did not have a date of death recorded on the accounts, which just yesterday on CBS News was confirmed by the head of the Soc Scty Admin...
• Well before Trump had taken office, the SSA had internally identified $72 billion in improper payments, most being erroneous overpayments to living people.
• In fact, in January, before Trump was inaugurated, the U.S. Treasury clawed back more than $31 million in a variety of federal payments— not just Social Security payments— that improperly went to dead people, a recovery that former (that is, of the Biden admin) Treasury official David Lebryk said was "just the tip of the iceberg."
