DOGE Dimensions - by Michael Smith - Unlicensed Punditry

...the allure of centralized control—and punishment—that features in every true collectivist’s dreams... - Michael Smith
There’s one aspect of the DOGE efforts I’ve overlooked as it begins to expose the crazy and uncontrolled spending of domestic agencies and programs: the allure of centralized control—and punishment—that features in every true collectivist’s dreams...
  • National Parents Union (NPU), a leftist “educational” non-profit group. NPU tweeted: “Before the @usedgov’s creation, states routinely denied education to students who were blind, deaf, or developmentally delayed. Today, MA receives over $350 million in IDEA funding annually to support students with disabilities, says @radiokeri.”
  • Corey DeAngeles replied: “Straw man. The bill to abolish the Department of Education moves special needs programs to the Department of Health and Human Services.”
  • @radiokeri (Keri Rodrigues, founder of National Parents and the National Parents Union Action Fund) shot back: “We’re not talking about funding. We’re talking about oversight. The states do a notoriously terrible job on this.”
The funding is secured in the bill to abolish the Department of Education, it just flows from a different source to the states.
  • The real fight is over who controls and enforces it.
He who pays the piper calls the tune and with federal control via the Department of Education, the left could dictate nationwide policy with a single edict, leaving parents voiceless...
