Humiliation Rituals Abound

Nothing says "politics" more than pandering to various constituencies, and it's not like most of us can't recognize when a politician is being phony to send a message to some groups that he cares about them, especially their votes. - David Strom 
Generally speaking, most of us don't get upset about this because in a pluralistic society there will always be some of this, and in fact, it is rather disturbing when a politician makes clear he dislikes a significant chunk of his constituency.
