The Pentagon has eliminated diversity, equity and inclusion offices and initiatives and barred the use of race, sex or ethnicity as factors in military promotions, assignments and other personnel decisions.
The War Department said the changes are intended to establish a merit-based system focused on lethality, readiness, accountability and standards.
Hegseth has also ordered the military to stop providing training on subjects including critical race theory, DEI and gender ideology, according to the Pentagon.
