Thomas Sowell tells Mark Levin systemic racism has no meaning - TheBlaze
Thomas Sowell tells Mark Levin systemic racism has no meaning - TheBlaze:
"They're absolute hypocrites," Levin said of leftists. "They claim they want equality for all. They claim that there'll be the withering away of the state, the police departments, reimagined law enforcement ... and yet every time you look at a Marxist state, it is an authoritarian, top-down, centralized police state."
In an interview from Levin's radio show on June 29, 2020, Sowell also discussed systemic racism.
"I have no idea what they mean, and I'm not sure they have any idea what they mean, in the sense that you can ask them a factual question and get a factual answer," Sowell told Levin last month.

America's cultural revolution is just like Mao's - UnHerd
America's cultural revolution is just like Mao's - UnHerd:
I had turned 18, and I think he wanted to show me something of his youth, of which he spoke little.
In the dusty village where he grew up, we met an endless stream of old men who wanted to see the village’s prodigal son.
Gifts were offered and extravagant greetings were swapped.
Then, after each visitor had departed, my father would tell me, matter-of-factly, what they did to him during the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution.
- To many who survived the crackdown in China, events in the US are frighteningly familiar

Then, after each visitor had departed, my father would tell me, matter-of-factly, what they did to him during the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution.
The harmless-looking retired cadre, now an amiable old man who pinched my cheeks, had been the village party secretary who forced my father to perform manual labour — running after cows with a basket to pick up the droppings — because, as the son of a landlord, he could not be trusted with an education.
The local businessman, now on his second wife and third Audi, had belonged to a gang of high school children who beat him for being descended from counter-revolutionaries.

...Since the beginning of — shall we call it our 2020 cultural moment? — much ink has been spilled on whether there are similarities between the current protests-cum-riots and China’s Cultural Revolution.
...To my father, and indeed to many of his contemporaries, the answer is clear.
They had lived through it, and although they cannot put their finger on the why, they can feel a certain febrility in the air which reminded them of the events of half a century ago.

The notion is hardly limited to the recent riots in America. Elements of such thinking often appear in other contexts.

British women, for instance, including rape victims who draw attention to "Asian" (Pakistani and South Asian) sex grooming gangs, are being attacked by the "woke" establishment.
Earlier this month in the UK, Sarah Champion, a Labor politician and MP for Rotherham (the epicenter of sex grooming), was accused of "fanning the flames of racial hatred" and "acting like a neo-fascist murderer."

"Conservative African American economist Thomas Sowell says that the term “systemic racism,” which is central to the Black Lives Matter movement, has “no meaning.”
You hear this phrase, ‘systemic racism’ [or] ‘systemic oppression’,” host Mark Levin told Sowell. “You hear it on our college campuses. You hear it from very wealthy and fabulously famous sports stars. What does that mean? And whatever it means, is it true?”“It really has no meaning that can be specified and tested in the way that one tests hypotheses,” answered Sowell, who added that the currency of the phrase reminds him of the “propaganda tactics” of Nazi Germany, where Sowell claimed that if a lie was “repeated long enough and loud enough” it would be widely believed.
Sowell, who recently turned 90, was born poor in North Carolina, and grew up in Harlem before attending the Stuyvesant magnet school and moving on to the Ivy League and the University of Chicago...

Cuban immigrant has dire warning for America, reveals connection between far-left and 'communists' - TheBlaze:
During the event, Alvarez explained that "communists" are now trying to force Americans to swallow the same "pill" that Fidel Castro tricked Cuban into swallowing during the Cuban Revolution.
"What is happening in our backyard today, I experienced as an 11-year-old. I remember vividly all the promises that a guy named Castro gave, and how 99% of the people swallowed the pill," Alvarez said.
According to Alvarez, Castro was selling the same bill of free goods to Cubans that far-left politicians are attempting to sell Americans today.
"I remember all the promises that we hear today about free education and free health care and free land," Alvarez said.

Why Socialism Often Leads to Tyranny - Foundation for Economic Education:
Mention the countries North Korea, Cuba, the Soviet Union, Mao Tse Tung’s China, East Germany, and Venezuela, and most people immediately think of an oppressed population with almost no economic opportunity and no political freedom.
The words communist dictatorship roll off the tongue like the two words have gone together forever.
- Socialism and communism lead to underperforming economies and the loss of individual opportunity for generations.

...The good news is you are entitled to housing, education, health care, and food.
But that doesn’t mean people no longer have to work.
The Soviet Constitution of 1936-Article 12 stated that “Labor in USSR is a duty and honorable obligation of each able citizen according to the principle: ‘Those who don’t work—don’t eat.’”

The Soviet Constitution of 1936-Article 12 stated that “Labor in USSR is a duty and honorable obligation of each able citizen according to the principle: ‘Those who don’t work—don’t eat.’”
...The real issue that needs to be addressed here is that a government that controls everything can quash dissent by changing the economic situation of anyone who is pointing out their defects or is involved with the opposition.
