My kid lived, I'm pissed. Give me your money!

Wizbang: Explosively Unique...: "Parents can sue a doctor if a genetic screening misses a severe or fatal condition that would have caused them to seek an abortion, a divided state Supreme Court ruled Friday. "
Much more to this story. Read how our legal system works/doesn't work. Ugly.

A religion of peace?

Michelle Malkin: "The driver of an SUV that plowed into a group of pedestrians at UNC-Chapel Hill on Friday told police it was retribution for the treatment of Muslims around the world, according to ABC News. "
Aren't these attacks on Americans in the USA moving from "aberation" to "what the heck is going on here?" pretty quickly?

Real Good Oscar review

THOUGHTS BY SEAWITCH: "This year, I am paying attention to the foreign film nominations. There are five up for nomination.

Sophie Scholl - The Final Days This film tells of the interrogations that Sophie Scholl underwent by the Gestapo for her involvement in an anti-war group called the White Rose.

Tsoti This one is about a African youth who is trying to get away from the gangs and redeem his life.

Joyeux Noel This one is about Christmas Eve in 1914 and how the soldiers who have been facing each other with guns try to bring a few brief moments of peace.

Don't Tell This is the story of a young woman who starts remember how her father molested her when she was a young girl and tries to learn the truth about her family history.

These are all wonderful stories about how individuals try to bring some peace and justice into their lives. Which brings me to the 5th nomination:

Paradise Now Does the glorification of suicide bombers really belong with those other films of redemption? No, it doesn't. "
She's just a blogger! How refreshing!

And the US media focuses on breached or topped?

Isaac Schrdinger: A Message for the World: "It's curious that the Urdu writing above that text doesn't say the same thing.
Translation of the five Urdu words into English: 'It is appropriate to kill an offensive cartoonist.'"

And no US newspaper has the guts to publish the cartoons. The Muskegon Chronicle cowards didn't either.

A good father...

Tom McMahon: What I Have Learned In 15 Years: "It was 15 years ago today that our 8-year-old son Ryan suffered a severe brain injury that left him unable to walk or talk or feed himself. He was in the hospital (in two hospitals, actually) for over six months, and ever since has lived with us at home. I thought I would share some of the lessons I've learned in these past 15 years:"

Pay too much and the Feds freeze your money?

Scripps Howard News Service: "They were told, as they moved up the managerial ladder at the call center, that the amount they had sent in was much larger than their normal monthly payment. And if the increase hits a certain percentage higher than that normal payment, Homeland Security has to be notified. And the money doesn't move until the threat alert is lifted."

Interesting to see if this is true and why.

Teachers, school board sign four-year contract

Who'd have thought that a hurricane could have high winds and lots of water...and stuff?
I'm Shocked!
Gateway Pundit: Wires: Bush, Chertoff, Nagin & Fats Domino Warned Before Katrina: "Wednesday, March 01, 2006
Today's headline thriller from the AP:

'Tape: Bush, Chertoff Warned Before Katrina'

Who knew?? My goodness gracious! George W. Bush heard it was going to be a big hurricane!! Can you imagine?

Here is some news for the AP...

The whole world was warned before Katrina!!! The AP itself wrote on the Sunday before the hurricane that 'Katrina's storm surge would likely top the levees.' Mayor Nagin told people going to the Superdome should come with enough food and supplies to last three to five days. Bush declared a national emergency. FEMA teams were in place to move in. Emergency assistance was being deployed and national guard troops were being prepared. President Bush personally warned the citizens on the coast.

If the AP wanted to unveil some unreported news they could try this, 'the response to Hurricane Katrina was by far the largest--and fastest-rescue effort in U.S. history.' (via Powerline)

Now, that would be some bold reporting!

Here is what the media and bloggers were saying the Sunday before Katrina hit the Gulf Coast:

August 28, 2005

Katrina Packing Wind of Nearly 175 Mph
Associated Press

Mayor Ray Nagin ordered an immediate evacuation Sunday for all of New Orleans, a city of 485,000 people, as Hurricane Katrina bore down with wind revved up to nearly 175 mph and a threat of a massive storm surge. "
The rest is just as good. What is it with the nutty left?

Just the facts, ma'am

Power Line: Bad Numbers, Part II: "The first is a correction in the New York Times:
Two articles on Saturday about the management deal for six American ports and its political fallout referred incorrectly to the role to be played by Dubai Ports World. It would run some of the terminal operations; it would not own the ports or take over all operations."
Kind of a big mistake, doncha think?

Is this why their reporting is so bad?

DRUDGE REPORT FLASH 2005: "NBC White House correspondent David Gregory, who apologized last week for calling White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan a 'jerk,' called into MSNBC's IMUS Thursday morning -- apparently drunk!"

Pretty stupid...and sad. Read the entire embarrassment.

Katrina dishonesty

Instapundit.com -: "In other words, there's no news here, but we hope it'll have traction anyway.) Patterico says that the Los Angeles Times is dishonestly portraying the video's contents, but if you get to the second page of the LAT story you find a bit of a dig at the AP for selective editing:
The AP video does not include footage of Chertoff asking Brown whether he needs any other help or of Chertoff asking whether Brown wants him to approach the Department of Defense. Transcripts show that to both questions, Brown indicated that no additional assistance was needed."
Do not trust the liberal media!
