NY Times Reporter Says the Obama Admin. Is the ‘Greatest Enemy of Press Freedom’ In a ‘Generation’ | TheBlaze.com

NY Times Reporter Says the Obama Admin. Is the ‘Greatest Enemy of Press Freedom’ In a ‘Generation’ | TheBlaze.com:

"President Barack Obama’s administration is the “greatest enemy of press freedom that we have encountered in a generation,” a New York Times reporter said over the weekend, according to a journalism news outlet.

Reporter James Risen — currently fighting the government in an effort to protect a confidential source — reportedly added that the administration wants to “narrow the field of national security reporting” to “create a path for accepting reporting.”

Those who do not comply “will be punished,” he reportedly said."

Detroit, don't tare down that wall....er....arena---------Don't be too hasty about the arena deal

KEITH CRAIN: Don't be too hasty about the arena deal | Crain's Detroit Business:

"Everything about the plans for the new location and stadium for the Detroit Red Wings is happening.

In a couple of years, we'll have a new arena to play hockey.

But one of the conditions of this deal is that after the Red Wings move to their new, tax-funded arena, no events may be held at Joe Louis Arena.

We have to tear it down. "

Russian Politician Suggests Dividing Ukraine Along Lines Of Nazi-Soviet Pact, Proposes West Ukraine Referendum

Russian Politician Suggests Dividing Ukraine Along Lines Of Nazi-Soviet Pact, Proposes West Ukraine Referendum | Zero Hedge:

"Because while the west scrambles to find a way to punish Russia for openly flaunting its relentless hollow threats by annexing Crimea, Zhirinovsky is back and has a "modest proposal" for Ukraine, and the countries neighboring the troubled former USSR territory: namely dividing the country along the lines of an infamous Nazi-Soviet pact, suggesting that regions in Western Ukraine hold referendums on breaking away from Kiev. The Democratic Civil War Over Energy

The Democratic Civil War Over Energy - WSJ.com:
"The letter was revealing for its honesty.
Not so long ago enviros endorsed natural gas as a cleaner alternative to coal or oil.
Most limited themselves to calling for "better" industry practices, or to solely opposing exports.

But as the gas rush has grown, threatening their solar-and-windmill nirvana, greens now openly decry drilling, chiding Mr. Obama for his "support for hydraulic fracturing" and calling on him to keep "our nation's fossil fuel reserves in the ground."

The letter was signed by Bill McKibben, the director of the anti-Keystone outfit 350.org, as well as directors of nearly every major green shop in the country—the Sierra Club, the Center for Biological Diversity, CREDO and Earthjustice."

Stop, Start or Please Do Nothing!

Stop, Start or Please Do Nothing! - Terry Paulson - Page full:
"When some blame the GOP for being a "Do Nothing" Congress," they might first look at the hundreds of laws passed by the House that the Democrat-controlled-Senate refuses to even consider.
But in some ways, the "Do Nothing" label is a badge of honor.
Conservatives want government to do less and to free citizens to do more.
The Left wants more government intervention, more regulations, and more special entitlements.
President Obama promises to use his pen; many wish a conservative Congress could wield a targeted eraser!
Here's my Stop/Start list for Washington."

Common Core is for your kids not children of Bill Gates

Common Core is for your kids not children of Bill Gates | The Daily Caller:
"Billionaire software tycoon Bill Gates has poured millions of dollars into efforts to develop and promote the Common Core State Standards Initiative, a set of K-12 math and language arts curriculum benchmarks and high-stakes standardized tests now being implemented in 46 states.
Strangely enough, though, Common Core isn’t quite good enough for Gates and his wife, Melinda, when it comes to the education of their own three children."

These States Have More Registered Voters Than Eligible Adults…What One Group Wants to Do About It | TheBlaze.com:

The same is true of Washington, D.C., which is set to hold a primary in its mayoral election next week.

Judicial Watch is threatening legal action against the two states and the nation’s capital if immediate steps aren’t taken to clear the voter rolls of dead voters, voters who have moved away or voters that that have become ineligible for other reasons.

States and municipalities are required to keep legitimate roils under Section 8 of the National Voter Registration Act, better known as the Motor Voter Law enacted in 1993."

Climate scientists refuse to debate global warming ‘skeptics’ in the media

Climate scientists refuse to debate global warming ‘skeptics’ in the media | The Daily Caller:
"Climate scientists and environmentalists are venting their frustrations debating those who are skeptical of man-made global warming — and some have even gone so far as to refuse debating skeptics.
Dan Weiss, the director of climate strategy at the liberal Center for American Progress, refused to appear on Fox Business to debate climate skeptic Marc Morano last week. Morano runs the blog Climate Depot, where he reports on environment and climate news.

Weiss was set to debate Morano on the show “The Independents” but “refused to debate directly with Morano, and chided [the show] for airing his views,” according to the Fox Business show."

Green Card Holders Not Qualified For Medicare Are Eligible For ObamaCare

Green Card Holders Not Qualified For Medicare Are Eligible For ObamaCare:
Green card holders who do not qualify for Medicare will qualify for Obamacare and any relevant federal subsidy. They may also qualify for Medicaid, depending upon their location.
One needs to have worked a total of 40 quarters (10 years) in the United States to qualify for Medicare.
U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents at least age 65, who have been here five years, may buy into Medicare if they don’t have the work history. Individuals who qualify to buy-in to Medicare can choose to participate in Medicare or buy Obamacare insurance.
Those qualified for “premium free” Medicare or Medicaid do not qualify for Obamacare.
Geography matters when it comes to Medicaid, "a need-based health insurance program for individuals with little or no income.
In some states, including South Carolina, you cannot get full Medicaid until you have been a permanent resident for five years.
You can however, get Medicaid reimbursement for emergency services.
In some states, including New York, all permanent residents who meet the income qualifications can get Medicaid."

Miami-Dade Schools & Education Data Fraud

Miami-Dade Schools & Education Data Fraud ‹ Campus Beast:
Lies, damned lies, and statistics.
As a school superintendent, you’re typically measured by a few numbers. Test scores, graduation rates, crime rates, finances, gaps in student achievement, and perhaps a few other metrics, depending on your board of education. You can actually tackle these problems, or you can employ the dark art of data manipulation
In 2012, a news story exploded onto the national stage that was very instructive in how to magically lower school crime statistics – yet nearly every major news outlet missed it.
The story begins with the ways to magically lower crime stats.
1. Maximize control. Expand your “school police” – expanding your control over what happens within schools, including the crimes, also expands your ability to commit and cover up fraud. The key: make everyone within a school, including the police, report to you.
Now that you’ve expanded your control, you can proceed with the cover-ups.
2. Don’t report the crimes. For anything less than murder, it simply doesn’t get reported, doesn’t get reported correctly, or doesn’t get reported with a student name attached. No name, no details, no crime. Just a crime-free occurrence, stolen property without a perpetrator, accident without incident.
3. Manipulate the law. Transform police documents into “student records.” Student records are protected by FERPA and aren’t available to the public and can’t be FOIA’d, which means that no one other than a judge can gain access. All your school crime stats can then be swept under the rug, and all your scheming is protected by federal law. Convenient.
4. Convert crime into a mental health issue. And Baker Act the kid. Transform crimes into mental health issues, which then becomes further protected from public scrutiny.
Now imagine this scenario. A crime occurs at a house where someone breaks in and steals a significant amount of jewelry. Shortly thereafter, a student at a high school a few blocks away from the crime scene is discovered with that jewelry and a large flat screwdriver, what police officially describe as “a burglary tool.” The student reports that he does not own the mostly women’s jewelry and that he will not or cannot name the person who does. What should happen?
At the very least, the police would submit a report and confiscate the jewelry, which would then be linked to the crime and land the student in court. Most probably, the student would have been arrested. That’s what would happen if the person in charge wasn’t a political hack scheming to rig numbers at the expense of students and the public. But unfortunately for the public at large, Miami-Dade Superintendent Alberto Carvalho was in charge, so the jewelry was confiscated, but no criminal report was produced, no link to the crime, no charges, no arrest. The report on the confiscated jewelry doesn’t even mention the student’s name.
This was most unfortunate for that student, Trayvon Martin.Had Superintendent Carvalho been interested in enforcing the law – not to mention obeying the law – and teaching students about consequences, Trayvon Martin would have been in juvenile detention instead of buying Skittles and getting shot.
Alberto Carvalho just won Superintendent of the Year, and his numbers appear to be impressive. So we decided to do something that the Broad Foundation, The School Superintendent’s Association, and apparently his own Board of Education have failed to do: actually dig into the data and find out what’s going on.

Temple Student Attacked With Brick | NBC 10 Philadelphia:

A 19-year-old Temple University student suffered serious facial injuries after an attacker hit her with a brick only a block from campus Friday.
The student was walking with her 20-year-old boyfriend, who also attends Temple, near 16th and Norris streets around 6 p.m. when a group of about 10 teens and young children began taunting them, according to sources.
The group of attackers consisted of boys and girls ranging in age from about 8 to 14-years-old, according to the victim's boyfriend.
"A couple of them started to grab at her earrings and her hair," he said. "My instinct was to stop them from hurting us and leave and get away."
He says he asked the group to back off, but his request went unheard as a female member of the group took a brick and smashed his 19-year-old girlfriend in the face.
"Her teeth were out of place," he said. "It was terrible, it was terrifying."
The victim's teeth were dislocated and she suffered multiple other facial injuries.

Downtown assaults by group of teens probed:
"Louisville police are investigating a series of assaults by a roving group of teens in the downtown that a spokesman said sent at least two people to University Hospital Saturday night.
Spokesman Dwight Mitchell said the incidents started about 9 p.m. and involved about 10 to 15 teens assaulting apparently random victims in seven or eight incidents.
The first incident occurred near the Big Four Bridge.
A woman was attacked in the restroom of a gas station at First and Jefferson streets and was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries, he said.
Another incident occurred near The Courier-Journal, 525 W. Broadway, where a man was attacked and taken to University with unknown injuries, Mitchell said.
Several cars in the vicinity of The Courier-Journal were vandalized, but it is unknown if those acts were linked to the roving assaults.
Mitchell said details were sketchy as of almost 11 p.m. and he hoped to release more information Sunday."
