Fraud patriotism------Report highlights the obscene price of NFL's paid patriotism

Report highlights the obscene price of NFL's paid patriotism | Sport | The Guardian
Who would have known many of those smiling soldiers on the football stadium scoreboard, the ones home from war, were for sale?
The stadium announcers never said this as they demanded fans stand and applaud the waving men on the screen.
Somehow they forget to mention that the defense department has sold these soldiers’ names and stories and plights for the fiction that this tender moment came without a check written to the home team.
By late Wednesday afternoon the depth of just how much patriotism the defense department has been selling to sports teams had come clear in a report commissioned by Republican senators John McCain and Jeff Flake – both of Arizona.
And it was extreme, if not obscene.
According to the report, taxpayers spent close to $7m on patriotic displays at professional and college sporting events over the last four years.
This included the unfurling of a gigantic flag held by service members at an Atlanta Falcons game, the re-enlistment ceremony for 10 soldiers at Seattle’s Century Link Field and the recognition of Air Force officers at a Los Angeles Galaxy soccer game.
In fact the report lists 74 pages of examples where military branches (mostly the National Guard) paid more than 50 sports teams for patriotic acts that were disguised as benevolent contributions by the teams themselves.

With His Navigator Halfway Out The Plane, The Pilot Did This To Save Him - World War Wings

With His Navigator Halfway Out The Plane, The Pilot Did This To Save Him - World War Wings
Thanks To The Pilots Forethought And Skill, He Managed To Save His Partner
This is both a story of really bad luck coupled with extremely important decisions made in a very short period of time.
While Lt. Mark Baden and Lt. Keith Gallagher were flying their A-6 Intruder during a routine mission in July, 1991, tragedy struck before anyone knew what happened.
While pulling negative Gs when coming down, the rear part of the canopy cracked and half ejected; Lt. Gallagher from the plane.
Held only by his parachute straps, he was pinned against his seat in the wind blast unable to breathe.
Pain, confusion, panic, fear and denial surged through my brain and body as a new development occurred to me: I couldn’t breathe. -Lt. Keith Gallagher
Trying to pull his ejection handle, he realized that his seat was not going anywhere.
He struggled in his helpless position until he lost consciousness.
Pilot Lt. Baden, realizing what happened, assessed the situation quickly.
He lowered the speed of the aircraft near stall speed and within 6 minutes was lining up to land on the USS Abraham Lincoln.
Making sure he caught the first wire as slowly as possible he also managed to pull the front gear up to make sure his partner didn’t get impaled on the broken canopy.
In the end, what caused this accident was the stress on the plexiglass of the canopy and the ejection seat being faulty.
The stress of the canopy made it crack, sliding the ejection seat partially out and deploying Gallagher’s parachute which pulled him out.

BREAKING: US Special Ops Is Sick of Obama, Unleash Their Rage With HUGE Announcement:

"President Barack Obama is unwilling to do anything in his final years as U.S. president that might be contrary to the legacy he wishes to preserve. Thus, he is unwilling to engage the Islamic State group militarily because he wants to be known as the leader who ended American military entanglement in Afghanistan and Iraq.

That’s the conclusion of top U.S. special operations commanders meeting in Tampa for a special ops forum."

Veteran's Day -Tribute to the American Soldier

What a wonderful tribute to Veterans, worldwide!-----Little Belgian boy saluting Canadian Troops

A lone young Belgian boy is waiting to salute the Canadians. Our troops were attending a memorial service. What respect from a young boy, and the anticipation on his face as they march towards him is wonderful! Watch what they do for this little boy. Such class ..... they make us proud!!
The "Eyes Right!" command is the greatest compliment troops on parade can pay and is reserved for dignitaries at reviewing stands.

Appeals Court Stops Obama’s Executive Amnesty

Appeals Court Stops Obama’s Executive Amnesty:

“Today, the Fifth Circuit asserted that the separation of powers remains the law of the land, and the president must follow the rule of law, just like everybody else,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement obtained Monday night by Breitbart Texas. “Throughout this process, the Obama Administration has aggressively disregarded the constitutional limits on executive power, and Texas, leading a charge of 26 states, has secured an important victory to put a halt to the president’s lawlessness.”

“I commend Gov. Abbott for his leadership on this issue,” Paxton continued, “as well as the talent and hard work of Texas Solicitor General Scott Keller, who along with his team has so eloquently and expertly argued our case.”

Apple's Tim Cook declares the end of the PC and hints at new medical product - Telegraph:

It is striking how little has changed in the average office over the past decade. There are more beards, fewer ties and the internet is even more central, but workers still sit in front of computers of one kind or other. Some use laptops; most others are wedded to their desktops, especially among the corporate rank and file. Unlike in the consumer world, where phones and tablets have revolutionised consumption habits, PCs remain kings of the workplace.
But time may finally be running out for the traditional computer. Looking at the shiny new super-sized iPad Pros tucked away in a special room on the third floor of Apple’s flagship Covent Garden store, complete with detachable keyboards, split view functionality and Apple Pencil stylus, it is clear that the world’s largest company has radical plans to change the way we work.

House GOP seeks flood of foreign ‘guest workers’

House GOP seeks flood of foreign ‘guest workers’:

Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., (Photo: U.S. House Ways and Means Committee)

The first immigration bill introduced under Rep. Paul Ryan’s speakership Wednesday would bypass the annual 66,000 cap on H-2B work visas by allowing foreigners admitted in any of the three previous years to remain and not be subject to the cap.

Critics say it will lead to more competition for what are often middle-class American jobs and will eventually lead to more illegal immigrants as the foreign workers overstay their visas.
The H-2B is considered a “seasonal” work permit for lower-skilled workers such as cooks, construction workers, hospitality, theme park employment, maintenance, forestry, seafood processing, cruise ship employees and truck driving among many other jobs.
It differs from the H-1B, which is for skilled guest-workers and also is the subject of pending legislation sponsored by Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., who wants to triple the number issued to foreign workers each year.
The cap exemption on the H-2B expired in 2007. At the time, it doubled the number but it could as much as quadruple, legislative sources told WND. This is the same way the total number of existing H-1B visa workers got so much higher than the annual inflow.

"Taliban now killing each other over succession:

Afghanistan - Taliban insurgents loyal to rival leaders have been fighting in a southeastern province of Afghanistan, where about 50 men on both sides have been killed in two days, an Afghan official said Sunday. Fighters in a breakaway faction led by Mullah Mohammad Rasool have been joined by Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants, according to Mohmand Nostrayar, governor of the Arghandab district of Zabul province. Rasool was elected "supreme leader" of the Taliban last week by a faction that does not support Mullah Akhtar Mansoor, who assumed power after the death of Taliban founder

Comments:
Now, for those who missed it, 0bama has proclaimed that the Taliban (he can´t pronounce it right) our new friends in the Middle East. Wonder if this is some test to see if winner gets all. Either 0bama is suddenly a savvy leader, or just plain lucky that he´s not expending Hellfire missiles to do the job."

Release the Records: Ben Carson vs. Barack Obama, College Edition | TheBlaze.com

Release the Records: Ben Carson vs. Barack Obama, College Edition | TheBlaze.com:

"Apples to apples. The media is trying to disqualify Dr. Carson’s right to the presidency based on his college records. Why did they never check Obama’s college records? Why are Obama’s Columbia records STILL sealed seven years into his presidency?

The media anxiously called West Point demanding to verify Dr. Carson’s claims, but never called Columbia to verify Obama’s claims. Why? If claims about college from 30 or 40 years ago are important for Dr. Carson, why not Obama?

Did Obama make false claims about his college experience? No one can prove it (yet) because his college records are sealed. Why? What is he hiding?"

Clinton making gender a focus of her presidential bid - The Washington Post

Clinton making gender a focus of her presidential bid - The Washington Post:

As the Democratic presidential candidates prepare for their second debate next weekend, a disputed moment of alleged sexism from the first exchange has come to symbolize a sharper and more personal confrontation between Hillary Rodham Clinton and her chief rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders.
The topic was gun control, the issue her campaign considers the keenest policy difference between Clinton and Sanders, and perhaps the only one on which he is positioned to her right. But it was Clinton’s suggestion, after the fact, that Sanders (I-Vt.) had spoken to her in a patronizing and dismissive way by accusing her of shouting that has added an edge to an almost painfully polite primary contest.

Seems reasonable!

"There’s no shortage of reasons electing President Barack Obama was a huge mistake, and it appears at least one man isn’t afraid to say so — in large letters across the tailgate of his truck.

We can begin a list of mistakes with Obama making deals with countries that want to see America destroyed. Giving Iran everything it wants and placing America in the hands of its enemy is reason enough for anyone to feel putting Obama in the White House was a grave error."

A Tale of Two Shootings

A Tale of Two Shootings | Works and Days
In August of 2014 Michael Brown, 18, 6-foot-4, 290 lbs., robbed a store in Ferguson, Missouri. Brown (who apparently had recently used marijuana) assaulted the clerk, then walked down the middle of the street before being stopped by city police officer Darren Wilson, who tentatively matched Brown as one of the possible suspects in the recent robbery.
Brown almost immediately assaulted Wilson and went for his gun, which discharged.
He then ran, but reversed course and charged the officer, who shot Brown numerous times until he collapsed and died.
Those facts are now not in dispute and were the eventual conclusions of both local and state authorities.
An investigation from Eric Holder’s Justice Department confirmed that Wilson’s behavior was justified.
Immediately after Brown’s death, riots overwhelmed Ferguson.
The shooting soon became a national rallying movement and begat the new “Black Lives Matter” movement.
The latter adopted as its slogan the purported last words of Brown — “hands up, don’t shoot!” — a plea that, according to both reliable witnesses and the investigations, was entirely fabricated post facto.
Nevertheless, it resonated and was voiced by professional athletes, celebrities, the news media, and members of Congress.
Nearly a year later, 32-year-old Kathryn Michelle “Kate” Steinle was fatally shot in the back, allegedly by illegal alien Francisco Sanchez, on July 1, 2015, in the Embarcadero district in San Francisco.
Sanchez had either stolen or acquired a stolen firearm and fired off three shots, one that pierced the aorta after entering the back of Ms. Steinle.
Her murderer was a seven-time convicted felon.
He was on probation from a Texas conviction, and he had an existing felony warrant pending. Sanchez, a Mexican national, had previously been deported from the United States on five occasions. San Francisco authorities ignored a federal detainer and released him after less than 30 days in detention — in accordance with the city’s “sanctuary city” policy of common non-cooperation with federal authorities in the arrest, jailing and possible deportation of illegal aliens.
Some Facts
A few comparative observations:
Michael Brown’s supporters claimed that he was shot in the back, an allegation that sparked days of violent rioting and yet was proven false both by the autopsy and forensic evidence, along with eyewitness accounts.
Kate Steinle was indisputably shot in the back, a fact that was never questioned. No demonstrations followed her death.

Moronz at Mizzo Law-----Something else terrible about Mizzou: the social-media policy written by its law students

Something else terrible about Mizzou: the social-media policy written by its law students - The College Fix:
The toppling of a university president over a scattered range of grievances tangentially connected to race isn’t the only questionable thing University of Missouri students have accomplished recently.
Law students wrote a breathtakingly autocratic, sloppy social-media policy that brings to mind The Simpsons Halloween episode where Ned Flanders rules a 1984-like alternate reality that enforces constant smiling.
After coverage by ATL Redline (“Orwellian”) and Reason (“unconstitutional, ungrammatical”), the law school’s Student Bar Association has apparently removed the policy from its website (“404 – File not found“).
Thanks to the foresight of the person who saved the policy to the Internet Archive, you can still read it in all its horrendous glory.
The preamble:
Before you post content to any social-media outlet affiliated, or reasonably possible to be associated with; yourself, the School of Law, the student organizations here at the school, the Missouri Bar Association, the American Bar Association, or any other legal association, and the University of Missouri, please take a moment to review our official guidelines.
So, that means personal Facebook and Twitter profiles, among others.
A sampling of rules (bold in the original):
Do not comment despairingly on others. [probably meant to write “disparagingly”]
● Provide positive and insightful commentary to help create a bond and build a rapport with users.
● If leaving a comment, post something meaningful, encouraging, informative or respectful. Comments should always follow the established posting policy.
● Before posting, re-read your comment to make sure it can’t be misconstrued as negative or inappropriate.
● Respect peoples privacy. Avoid speaking about, or mentioning, others in your posts whenever you can. Seek that person’s informed consent when needed.
● All statements must be true, accurate and not misleading. [ATL Redline notes this seems to bar sharing Onion parody articles]
It even mandates tattletaling:
It is the duty of each member of the SBA to report instances of possible non-compliance with this policy to the Vice-President of the SBA-all reports will be kept anonymous and in confidence..."
