William McKinley statue removal in Arcata, California expands liberal push to erase history - Washington Times:

"A California town’s effort to remove a statue of former President William McKinley shows that the leftist bent for erasing politically incorrect figures from the public square no longer is reserved for slave owners, Confederate generals and segregationists.
On the heels of the Confederate monument purge across the South, the town council of Arcata, California, voted to take down a statue of the 25th president, despite McKinley’s sterling record on civil rights.
Among other things, McKinley fought to abolish slavery in the Civil War, resisted demands to fire Catholic state workers as governor of Ohio and appointed a record number of blacks to federal positions as president."

A Broken FBI Promise - WSJ

A Broken FBI Promise - WSJ:
"...But already both the FBI and the Justice Department are back to their old tricks.
At issue is a memo related to the opening of a counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign’s alleged ties with Russia in 2016.
See the source imageSuch information is crucial for Congress to get an accurate picture of how Justice and the FBI handled this investigation.
House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes (R., Calif.) has written to both Director Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein asking for an unredacted version for all committee members to see. The bureau says it will not provide the material because it is too sensitive.
Mr. Nunes notes this is ridiculous, given that the document “is not highly classified.”
More to the point, if an Intelligence Committee made up of elected representatives of the American people is not qualified to see such material, no one is..."

"Brian Krebs:
Image result for facebook personal informationSocial media sites are littered with seemingly innocuous little quizzes, games and surveys urging people to reminisce about specific topics, such as "What was your first job," or "What was your first car?" The problem with participating in these informal surveys is that in doing so you may be inadvertently giving away the answers to "secret questions" that can be used to unlock access to a host of your online identities and accounts...But I thought it was worth mentioning because certain social networks -- particularly Facebook -- seem positively overrun with these data-harvesting schemes. ...Nevertheless, your answers to these questions may live in perpetuity online, giving identity thieves and scammers ample ammunition to start gaining backdoor access to your various online accounts."Read all!

The training event was conducted in preparation for a larger demonstration of unmanned capabilities, called the Robotic Complex Breach Concept.
Being able to take soldiers out of harm’s way and accomplish the mission is very an attractive option to any commander,” said U.S. Army Lt. Col. Jesse Curry, commander of the 82nd Brigade Engineer Battalion, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.
“It’s a capability that the enemy will not know how to counteract when we implement it. This type of technology enables us to stretch further while conserving resources...”

The Trans Destruction of Sport - CultureWatch

The Trans Destruction of Sport - CultureWatch:
"Oh look, a guy pretending to be a girl almost whooped all the female competition at the Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast.
But thankfully an injury has forced him to withdraw.
The only thing worse than this outrage are all the brainless twits in the media calling this guy a ‘she’ and referring to him as a ‘her’.
The New Zealand athlete, Gavin Hubbard, who now pretends he is a she, and calls himself Laurel Hubbard, was to have competed today in a weightlifting event.
But an elbow injury has meant he was forced to withdraw from competing.
And that is a good thing too.
The bulky guy would have easily beaten all the real women in the competition, illustrating what an utter farce the trans con game is, and what numbats our sporting officials are.
That they even allowed him to compete as a woman in the first place shows what PC goofballs they are.
As to the recent injury, one write-up explains the state of play (pardon the moonbat references to him as a her)..."

People Would Rather Pop A Pill Than Exercise To Lower High Blood Pressure | Science 2.0

People Would Rather Pop A Pill Than Exercise To Lower High Blood Pressure | Science 2.0:
"When the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention drastically lowered the 'blood sugar' level, the HbA1C test, to 5.7 percent for a potential precursor to disease labeled "prediabetes" the rest of the world jeered.
In China, that would mean 500 million people worried they have a disease.
In America, it would mean 80 million more potential patients.
See the source imageWhen it came to data, less than 5 percent of those with that A1C level would ever go on to develop type 2 diabetes...in their entire lives.
Advocates insisted that this would warn people to start exercising, but realists knew the truth.
Many were going to demand medicine and when they did not get it, members of Congress were going to be yelling at insurance companies.
We know it's true, people accept science so much they feel comfortable taking a pill, especially if it means not having to wait for exercise to help.
A new study affirms that. In a recent survey presented at the American Heart Association's Quality of Care and Outcomes Research Scientific Sessions 2018, people told them were to imagine having high blood pressure (which itself is not a disease, but that is a different article)  and choosing between a pill, a shot, drinking tea, or exercising, people chose a pill, followed by tea.
No one wants to exercise..."

Mike Lee: Federal Government Has Been Making Opioid Crisis Worse

Mike Lee: Federal Government Has Been Making Opioid Crisis Worse:
"WASHINGTON – Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) said the federal government has contributed to the opioid crisis and caused “substantial harm” over time.
See the source image“When faced with a crisis of this particular magnitude, it is easy to say that maybe the solution could be found in a new raft of government programs.
...“There is strong evidence that the government has itself done substantial harm by, among other things, paying for a flood of pain pills through Medicaid and the Medicare prescription drug benefit,” he said.
“Before we jump into any other government-funded solution, we should reckon with the damage that this kind of mentality and this kind of programmatic response through our nation’s capital has already caused.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported last week that drug overdoses killed 63,632 Americans in 2016, and nearly two-thirds of these deaths involved a prescription or illicit opioid.
...Lee said the U.S. has to “recognize that culture matters” when it comes to drug addiction.
...The harder task, really, will be to change the broader culture within American communities and families to make them more resilient to drugs,” he added..."

Hungary's strongman Viktor Orban wins third term in power

Hungary's strongman Viktor Orban wins third term in power:
BUDAPEST, Hungary (Reuters) - Prime Minister Viktor Orban won a third straight term in power in Sunday elections after his anti-immigration campaign message secured a strong majority for his party in parliament, granting him two-thirds of seats based on preliminary results.

“There is a big battle behind us, we have won a crucial victory, giving ourself a chance to defend Hungary.”
...That means Orban could have a two-thirds majority for a third time, and powers to change constitutional laws.
The EU has struggled to respond as Orban’s government has, in the view of its critics, used its two landslide victories in 2010 and 2014 to erode democratic checks and balances..."
