"The Mueller investigation continues without hitting paydirt and further diminishing the reputation of the special counsel and Clintonite team.  

• I expect the president to shortly (maybe even this week) declassify the FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) warrant on Carter Page.  

This warrant provided the means to spy on the president and his campaign.  
We learned this week that the warrant, which triggered this partisan witch hunt, was signed by the FISC (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court) without any hearing whatsoever.  
We already know that it was based on lies scrounged up by a Hillary Clinton-paid former newsman and passed on by corruptocrats in the FBI, CIA, and Department of Justice...

• The Maverick's five-day funeral rites were reportedly planned in every detail by the departed and reflected his bitter, vindictive streak. 

In particular, he disinvited Sarah Palin, his running mate in his unsuccessful run for the presidency, and the family made this gesture public.  
To my mind, without her, his campaign would have been an even bigger failure.

• And then there's the missing cardinal to make the crazy week even weirder.  

Pope Francis was under attack for failing to act on countless documented cases of sex abuse within the Catholic Church.  
The Vatican's ex-ambassador to Washington, Archbishop Carlo Viganò, fired the first salvo, detailing the misconduct of Archbishop Theodore McCarrick and Cardinal Donald Wuerl and calling on the pope to resign.  
Ricochet had the best wrap-up of the crisis in the church and the Lavender Mafia flourishing under Pope Francis....
...There are calls for Cardinal Wuerl to resign and he appears to have gone missing, with rumors that he was spirited out of the country to avoid prosecution.
Certainly all this turmoil in our justice system and the Church is unsettling.  
But it's a useful reminder that in all hierarchies, sooner or later, the mission of the organization becomes the protection of the hierarchy, not the stated mission, and every now and then, a thorough housecleaning is in order..."

As her Andrea Mitchell Reports show gave live coverage of the event, at 12:06 a.m. [sic] Eastern, the MSNBC host listed several of those appearing on stage. She began: “It’s interesting to see the panoply of civil rights leaders. Of course, right there at the church, we see Reverend Al (Sharpton), we see the Reverend Jesse Jackson who has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease but was so close to Aretha Franklin and is part of that legacy.”

...Mitchell: “Bill Clinton there, of course, and is going to give one of the eulogies. And also the Reverend Farrakhan — a very controversial leader from the Nation of Islam who is also there. So it’s an inclusive group.”

Mitchell never explained why Farrakhan is “very controversial.” 
No doubt, Al Sharpton will address that topic when he gets back to the studio. 
In the interim, regarding how “inclusive” Franklin’s mourners were, as fellow Insta-co-blogger David Bernstein tweeted on Saturday, “Imagine the establishment’s reaction if Willie Nelson had David Duke sitting in a place of honor at his funeral, with George W. Bush 2 seats away. 
Now consider the lack of reaction to Aretha Franklin, Farrakahn, and Clinton.

He was part of the most racist wing of the Democratic Party.

There’s never been much dispute over whether Luis Bracamontes shot and killed two Sacramento-area deputies in October 2014.
He has repeatedly admitted to it in court hearings, and at the start of his trial Tuesday his own lawyer essentially convicted the illegal immigrant of killing Sacramento sheriff’s Deputy Danny Oliver and Placer sheriff’s Deputy Michael Davis Jr. in a daylong spree of violence that started in a Motel 6 parking lot near Arden Fair Mall.
“Let me be clear and up front,” public defender Jeffrey Barbour told the jury hearing his case.

"Where do we go after Trump? 
This question becomes more pertinent as the soap opera administration seeks its own dramatic demise. 
Yet before they can seize power from the president and his now subservient party, the Democrats need to agree on what will replace Trumpism.
...Yet this conflict could resolve itself in a new, innovative approach that could be best described as oligarchal socialism.
Oligarchal socialism allows for the current, ever-growing concentration of wealth and power in a few hands — notably tech and financial moguls — while seeking ways to ameliorate the reality of growing poverty, slowing social mobility and indebtedness. 
This will be achieved not by breaking up or targeting the oligarchs, which they would fight to the bitter end, but through the massive increase in state taxpayer support.

• Conflicting visions

Historically, liberals advocated helping the middle class achieve greater independence, notably by owning houses and starting companies. 
But the tech oligarchy — the people who run the five most capitalized firms on Wall Street — have a far less egalitarian vision. 
Greg Fehrenstein, who interviewed 147 digital company founders, says most believe that 

• “an increasingly greater share of economic wealth will be generated by a smaller slice of very talented or original people. 
• Everyone else will increasingly subsist on some combination of part-time entrepreneurial ’gig work‘ and government aid.”

Numerous oligarchs — Mark Zuckerberg, Pierre Omidyar, founder of eBay, Elon Musk and Sam Altman, founder of the Y Combinator — have embraced this vision including a “guaranteed wage,” usually $500 or a $1,000 monthly. 

• The socialist challenge

Particularly since Donald Trump’s election, the leaders of corporate America — especially in tech and finance — have merged with the Democrats. 
They appeal to progressives by advocating politically correct views on immigration, gender rights and climate change, while muzzling conservatives both inside and outside their companies.
But now the socialists have raised the ante for progressive credibility. 
Going beyond green and identity issues, they are raising issues that impact most families. 
Arguably their strongest case can be seen in health care, now the top issue with voters, according to Gallup. 
In some states, notably California, socialists are also backing a drive for rent control to help families cope with high rents and low wages.
A focus on such basic issues could reorder not just the Democratic Party but the country itself. 
Faced with limited future prospects, more millennials already prefer socialism to capitalism and generally renounce constitutionally sanctioned free speech — not something you like to see in what will soon be the largest voting bloc in the country...

• A New Deal for oligarchs
