The dossier that launched several investigations into Donald Trump and his presidential campaign was based, in part, on posts from "random individuals" from a CNN website that allows the public to publish unverified information.
Christopher Steele made the admission in a deposition given in connection with a lawsuit against the dossier.  The judge released portions of the deposition this week.

Malia, Michelle, Barack and the College Admissions Scandal

Malia, Michelle, Barack and the College Admissions Scandal
"What shocked even the old timers in my hometown was that Mayor Hugh Addonizio, the man who gave me my Eagle Scout Award, would accept kickbacks in cash right across his desk.
See the source imageThey were troubled less by his criminality -- that was expected in Newark -- than by his lack of subtlety.
Addonizio paid for his indiscretion with a lengthy prison sentence.
So it is with the current college admissions scandal.
People have been scamming their ways into prestige universities for decades, maybe centuries, but in the past they have had the good sense not to put the cash on the table.
It seems that in this scandal a few of the bribers and their brokers may well pay for their indiscretion with prison sentences as well.
...Malia is the fourth member of the Obama family to attend that august university, none of whom, save perhaps for Grandpa Obama, deserved to be there.
...Barack Obama’s back door, however, was unique to him.
Before prosecutors send some of the dimmer Hollywood stars to the slammer for their dimness, they might want to ask just how much influence a Saudi billionaire peddled to get Obama into Harvard."

Media Silence Surrounds Muslim Massacre of Christians | Breitbart:

Image result for flickr commons images Christian Symbols“The hypocrisy on display is astounding,” the pastors continued. “Christianity is the dominant religion of our country. It is the foundation of our government and morality. And yet, Christians are treated as fair game for mockery and insult.”
Christians are by far the most persecuted religious group in the world, but the mainstream media routinely ignore this fact as if it were unimportant or uninteresting. As a result, many people do not even realize how widespread the persecution is or that 75 percent of the victims of religious persecution around the world are Christians.
Whatever the reason — or reasons — for the media silence surrounding the most recent massacres of Christians in Nigeria as well as numerous other such events, it should give right-thinking people pause.
By all means, the lethal shootings of dozens of Muslims in New Zealand is a massive story and merits extensive coverage. But it only stands to reason that similar coverage should be devoted to the slaughter of Christians.

  • A temporary "undocumented student coordinator" position at the University of Maryland may just become permanent, if the student government has its way.
  • The coordinator isn't the only position offered by the school for illegal alien students.

In a unanimous vote, the University of Maryland’s student government voted to create a permanent, full-time position to help illegal immigrant students.

  • “Address the immediate needs of the undocumented student population"

...UMD is not the only university that has provided resources or created coordinator positions for illegal immigrant students.
Other institutions such as Georgetown University, the University of California, Loyola University of Chicago, and DePaul University have taken similar steps to protect illegal immigrant students..."

"So what happened in 2015 and 2016 to cause the violent crime rate, including the homicide rate, to rise after decades of decline?
I can’t think of any explanation other than the Black Lives Matter movement and the relentless attacks on law enforcement that it engendered, which were supported by the Obama administration.
But what happened when Donald Trump took over in the White House?
The homicide and violent crime rates began to fall again.
If the New York Times’s projection is correct, the second year of the Trump administration saw a steeper decline in the homicide rate."....

Judge: U.C. Berkeley must answer for anarchist attacks - WND:

Image result for flickr commons images USC BerkleyA federal judge has decided that the University of California at Berkeley must respond to a lawsuit over anarchist attacks on campus when a conservative speaker, Milo Yiannopoulos, was scheduled to appear.
Visitors on campus to hear him were caught up in the riots carried out by anarchists, prompting a damage complaint on behalf of John Jennings and others against the president of the University of California system, Janet Napolitano, and others.
Freedom X Law said Wednesday its complaint is moving forward.
“After two years of legal wrangling, including two motions filed by the University of California, Berkeley, to dismiss a lawsuit targeting the university for allowing anarchist demonstrators to viciously attack visitors to the campus attending a conservative event there, a federal district judge in Oakland, California has decided that injured victims of the attacks can proceed with their lawsuit,” the organization announced.
Shortly after the election of President Trump, anarchists and other leftists planned to riot when they learned that Yiannopoulos was scheduled to speak on the campus.

...In a free society, people earn income by serving their fellow man.
Here's an example: I mow your lawn, and you pay me $40. Then I go to my grocer and demand two six-packs of beer and 3 pounds of steak.
In effect, the grocer says, "Williams, you are asking your fellow man to serve you by giving you beer and steak.
What did you do to serve your fellow man?"
My response is, "I mowed his lawn." The grocer says, "Prove it."
That's when I produce the $40.
We can think of the, say, two $20 bills as certificates of performance — proof that I served my fellow man.
A system that requires that one serve his fellow man to have a claim on what he produces is far more moral than a system without such a requirement.
For example, Congress can tell me, "Williams, you don't have to get out in that hot sun to mow a lawn to have a claim on what your fellow man produces.
Just vote for me, and through the tax code, I will take some of what your fellow man produces and give it to you."...

NEWSWORTHY: Media Silence Surrounds Muslim Massacre of Christians

Instapundit  Blog Archive
Christians massacred Nigeria"NEWSWORTHY: The ghastly massacre in Christchurch this week is certainly newsworthy and richly deserving of the universal condemnation it is getting.
But let’s also spare a thought for the massacre of over a hundred Christians at the hands of Muslim militants in Nigeria these past few weeks.
So far it has been ignored in the MSM.
P.S.: It’s more evidence for my study (with Hal Pashler) showing that one’s political views tend to bias one’s judgment about what is newsworthy.
Yes, I know that should be obvious, but you might be surprised at the extent to which journalists argue that their own views do not bias their reporting.---Posted by Gail Heriot

Chicago To Shutdown Composting Business Because Regulations Don't Cover Worms - Slashdot
schwit1 shared an article from Reason's "Volokh Conspiracy" blog:
See the source imageNature's Little Recyclers is a father-son business that does composting on empty residential lots, transforming organic waste into nutrient-rich soil. Last year, the business's worms processed 10 tons of banana peels and cups from the Chicago Marathon that would otherwise have gone to a landfill. But Chicago officials are going to shut the business down -- and not because the city doesn't think composting is a good thing (the city's sustainability website directs people to Nature's Little Recyclers). Rather, the city's business and zoning regulations weren't designed to accommodate small and innovative operations like Nature's Little Recyclers.
"None of these operations met the criteria for garden composting or an on-site organic waste composting operation," said Anel Ruiz, spokesperson for the Department of Public Health, in a statement to Block Club Chicago, adding "Further, these sites are not properly zoned for commercial composting."

But another perspective was shared by lawyer Amy Hermalik, associate director of the Institute for Justice Clinic on Entrepreneurship at the University of Chicago.
"The city will unofficially imply there's wiggle room, saying it only enforces certain ordinances against 'bad operators,' but that leaves businesses subject to shifting political winds or personal whims, Hermalik said.
'They [the city] have an incredible amount of power to do as they please.'"
