Study: Average American Now Complains More In A Week Than People Living Through The Black Plague Did Their Entire Lives | The Babylon Bee:
"U.S.—Demonstrating just how bad modern life has gotten, surveys now show that the average American today complains more in a week than people living during the black plague complained throughout their entire 30-year life span.
“There’s just so much more going wrong now,” said Karen Maxwell, a college student.
“Things were just much simpler during the Black Death. All they had to deal with was squalor, starvation, and the constant threat of disease.
Nowadays we have microaggressions, student debt, gluten, unequal pay for women, GMOs, problematic things like Scarlett Johansson playing a transgender man.
The list just goes on and on.
So it’s no wonder we complain more.”...

Hedge-Funders Have Some Thoughts on What Epstein Was Doing
"...Kass was more focused on how this obscure person, rumored to be managing billions of dollars, had become so wealthy without much of a track record.
See the source imageKass was well-connected on Wall Street, where he’d worked for decades, so he began to ask around. “I went to my institutional brokers, to their trading desks and asked if they ever traded with him.
I did it a few times until the date when he was arrested,” he recalls.
“Not one institutional trading desk, primary or secondary, had ever traded with Epstein’s firm.”
When a reporter came to interview Kass about Bernie Madoff shortly before that firm blew up in the biggest Ponzi scheme ever, Kass told her, “There’s another guy who reminds me of Madoff that no one trades with.”
That man was Jeffrey Epstein.
“How did he get the money?” Kass kept asking..."

"The remarkable thing about Colin Kaepernick’s banning of Nike ’s Betsy Ross flag sneaker to commemorate the Fourth of July isn’t that it happened, but how easily it happened.
Nike’s management simply folded over “concerns that it could unintentionally offend.”
...No one has ever thought to go looking inside corporate headquarters for profiles in courage, but the lurch toward timidity in our time by individuals at the top of America’s private and public institutions is something to behold.
Pusillanimity has become a plague.
See the source image...But for the increasingly Mao-like American left, even this choked-down acceptance of their political assaults isn’t enough.
They no longer seem content with winning.
The left today has a compulsion to force obedience again and again.
Thus, You didn’t like Wahoo and Kate Smith?
Try this: We’re getting rid of your racist Betsy Ross flag, and you’ll shut your face and take it.
What they want from their opposition isn’t agreement with their ideas but submission—a kind of political lobotomization.
And disturbingly, a lot of contemporary leaders—at Nike, the Yankees, the Flyers, almost any university—are volunteering to assist in the procedure..."

Yup.-----Why Australia's plastic bag ban is doing more harm than good | Sunrise

Why Australia's plastic bag ban is doing more harm than good | Sunrise
It's been one year since Australia's major supermarkets removed single-use plastic bags from checkouts and started charging for 'reusable' ones.

Coles says the move has already saved 1.7 billion single-use bags from ending up in landfill, but new research is casting doubt on whether the ban is doing more harm than good.
...Sales of small, single-use garbage bags have increased a whopping 120 per cent since the ban came into place.
The study also found that shoppers' behaviour pre-ban was more 'green', because thin bags were often reused as bin liners, to pick up dog poo or to carry things.
Critics say the ban isn't helping us to reduce plastic waste and is instead another way for big business to make shoppers part with their hard-earned cash."

"According to numbers out Monday, nearly 10 million fewer American viewers on average tuned in for this year’s historic FIFA Women’s World Cup Final than tuned in when the U.S. team went up against and defeated Japan in the otherwise equally historic 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final.
...“The audience was down 43.8 percent from the 2015 final between the U.S. and Japan, which averaged 25.4 million viewers.
...Recorded after the team was handed the keys to New York City on Wednesday in recognition of its achievement, the clip shows player Ashlyn Harris obnoxiously bragging.
“Hide your kids, hide your wives, lock your f–kin doors, because I got the key too the motherf–king city, and I’m coming for all ya’ll b–ches,” she drunkenly says...

Who Will Clean Up America's Voter Rolls? | RealClearInvestigations
"Los Angeles County has too many voters.
See the source imageAn estimated 1.6 million, according to the latest calculations – which is roughly the population of Philadelphia.
That’s the difference between the number of people on the county’s voter rolls and the actual number of voting age residents.
...Los Angeles County may be California’s worst offender, but 10 of the state’s 58 counties also have registration rates exceeding 100% of the voting age population.
In fact, the voter registration rate for the entire state of California is 101%.
And the Golden State isn’t alone.
Eight states, as well as the District of Columbia, have total voter registration tallies exceeding 100%, and in total, 38 states have counties where voter registration rates exceed 100%.
Another state that stands out is Kentucky, where the voter registration rate in 48 of its 120 counties exceeded 100% last year.
About 15% of America’s counties where there is reliable voter data – that is, over 400 counties out of 2,800 – have voter registration rates over 100%..."

Federal judges ruling against Trump are setting precedents they may regret:

Image result for flickr commons images Twitter bird LogoIn a Tuesday decision, the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals noted that because Trump uses Twitter to communicate with the public about his administration, and his account is open to the public for people to comment on his posts, it warrants constitutional free speech protection under the First Amendment.
Well, that makes Twitter, when used by a federal official, covered by First Amendment protections.  So much for the discussion that Twitter might suspend or close President Trump's account, as it has done to many other conservatives' accounts.
Even better, it also enshrines the right of conservatives to respond to tweets by leftist elected officials. Within hours of the ruling:

Ignore the Fear Mongering, Here's What Climate Change Models Actually Say | Mises Wire

Ignore the Fear Mongering, Here's What Climate Change Models Actually Say | Mises Wire
"An Earth scientist’s recent article making the rounds on social media highlights a terrifying conversation he had with “a very senior member” of the IPCC, which is the UN’s body devoted to studying climate science.
The upshot of their conversation was that millions of people will die from climate change, a conclusion that leads the author to lament that humans have created a consumption-driven civilization that is “hell bent on destroying itself.”
...The Conversation
GettyImages-938846392 (1).jpgHere is the opening hook from James Dyke’s article, in which he grabs the reader with an apocalyptic conversation:
...“But what about the many millions of people directly threatened,” I went on.
“Those living in low-lying nations, the farmers affected by abrupt changes in weather, kids exposed to new diseases?”
He gave a sigh, paused for a few seconds, and a sad, resigned smile crept over his face.
He then simply said: “They will die.”
Putting aside the creepiness of someone smiling as he predicts millions of deaths—sort of like a James Bond villain—we must inquire: How plausible are these warnings?
Does the climate change literature actually support such bold projections?
As it turns out, the answer is “no.”
...Conclusion
The climate change alarmists are given a free pass to throw out the most absurd rhetoric, such as a recent author’s warning that potentially billions of people could die because of human-caused climate change.
Yet despite their claimed fidelity to the “consensus science,” such claims are not supported by the UN’s own climate change reports.
The most alarming of the projections of climate change damages rely on naïve assumptions about human adaptability..."
