Victor Davis Hanson--California Is a Cruel Medieval State - American Greatness
California Is a Cruel Medieval State - American Greatness
"One way of understanding California is simply to invert traditional morality.
What for centuries would be considered selfish, callous, and greedy is now recalibrated as caring, empathetic, and generous.
The current ethos of evaluating someone by his or her superficial appearance—gender or race—has returned to the premodern values of 19th-century California when race and gender calibrated careers.
...A paradox ensues that Californians both have a high, indeed smug, view of themselves and yet do a lot of damage to their fellow human beings.
...Indeed, the bigger and wealthier California became, the more the rich sought to privatize their lives and to give up on public services, the more the middle classes left the state, the more the poor from Mexico and Latin America crossed the southern border illegally, the more its schools deteriorated, and the more its infrastructure ossified and became decrepit, from century-old power transmission towers to pot-holed and jammed highways..."

WAYNE ALLYN ROOT: The Most Important Joe Biden Question in the World
WAYNE ALLYN ROOT: The Most Important Joe Biden Question in the World
"...
Forget all that.
Instead, let’s just ask about the elephant in the room.
I’m going to say out loud what everyone is thinking and saying privately.
Is Joe Biden capable of being president?
Has time passed him by.
Is Joe “all there?”
Has Biden suffered possible diminished mental capacity and cognitive decline?
Is Joe possibly suffering senility, or early onset dementia?
"...
- But forget Obama and Biden’s terrible economic record.
- Forget the Biden corruption allegations.
- Forget Ukraine and China, where Biden’s son allegedly made a fortune.
- Forget Costa Rica, where Biden’s brother allegedly made a fortune.
- Forget Burisma, the corrupt firm Biden kept from being investigated by extorting Ukraine, to protect his son. That’s all on video, by the way.
- Forget the fact that Ukraine has just officially opened a criminal investigation into the whole Biden affair.
- Also, forget that Biden is the ultimate “DC Swamp guy.”
- Forget the entire Democrat establishment fixing the presidential primary for Biden because they crave power, jobs, patronage and government contracts. And once elected, Joe will open up the vault and give them whatever they want, with your taxpayer dollars.
Forget all that.
Instead, let’s just ask about the elephant in the room.
I’m going to say out loud what everyone is thinking and saying privately.

Record number hold Minnesota gun carry permits: report | Fox News:
The number of gun carry permits in Minnesota totals more than 301,000 -- a record number that has nearly doubled since 2014, according to a report.
Minnesota sheriffs reported issuing 51,404 permits in 2019, according to the state Department of Public Safety’s annual tally of gun permits.
Sheriffis in Hennepin, Anoka and Dakota counties issued the most permits, the Minnesota Star Tribune reported.
The paper said the trend is being fueled by some Minnesota gun owners' concerns that legislation may be coming that would make it harder to buy firearms.

How a ban on pro-Trump patterns unraveled the online knitting world - MIT Technology Review
Her knitting pattern spelled out “Build the Wall” with a brick motif.
“Deplorable Knitter,” as she calls herself, then posted the pattern on Ravelry, the internet’s largest collective of knitters and crocheters.
The response was vitriolic.
“Everyone was so angry about it,” she says.
But Deplorable Knitter, who’d previously just used the site to browse patterns, was fired up.
When Trump announced he was running for reelection last June, she designed a Trump 2020 “Keep America Great” cowl.
“That one blew up,” she says, describing threats and bullying that have forced her to remain anonymous.
Her cowl pattern got flagged for hate speech, and on June 21, Deplorable Knitter was banned from Ravelry.
She was not alone.
On June 23, the site banned “support of Donald Trump and his administration.”
In a statement at the time, Ravelry said: “We cannot provide a space that is inclusive of all and also allow support for open white supremacy. Support of the Trump administration is undeniably support for white supremacy.”...
