In a 2019 Pew survey, 44 percent of blacks reported being “unfairly stopped by police” because of their race; 54 percent said, “No, has not happened to me.” In a Monmouth poll taken after Floyd’s death, 44 percent of African-Americans reported that they or an immediate family member felt “harassed by police,” but a majority did not share this experience.When asked, “How satisfied are you with the job your local police department does,” 21 percent said “very satisfied,” 51 percent said somewhat satisfied, 12 percent said somewhat dissatisfied, and only 5 percent said that they were “very” dissatisfied. These results do not suggest a complete endorsement of contemporary policing, as many blacks report negative interactions. Yet nearly three-quarters of surveyed African-Americans report themselves satisfied with their local police departments.

He added, "In our schools, our newsrooms, even our corporate boardrooms there is a new far-left fascism that demands absolute allegiance.
If you do not speak its language, perform its rituals, recite its mantras, and follow its commandments, then you will be censored, banished, blacklisted, persecuted, and punished."
Attacks from the Democrats and the media were fast and furious.

- Even before the Mount Rushmore speech, in a tweet that was later deleted, the official Democratic Twitter account accused Trump of "glorifying white supremacy."
- The New York Times accused Trump of using the Mount Rushmore speech to "Deliver a Divisive Culture War Message."
- A CNN reporter called Mount Rushmore "a monument of two slave owners and on land wrestled away from Native Americans."
- But CNN had no problem when Bernie Sanders at a visit to Mount Rushmore in 2016 said that it represented America "at its very best."
- Meanwhile, more statues are coming down.
- An effigy of Christopher Columbus was thrown into Baltimore harbor over the weekend, and in Rochester, New York, the statue of black abolitionist Frederick Douglass was vandalized.

There have already been at least 67 people shot in Chicago over the Fourth of July weekend. Within four hours, from 11 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday, 36 people were shot. There were at least 13 killed during the holiday weekend, including a 7-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy.
Nine of the weekend's shooting victims were minors, a worrying trend of children being shot and killed in Chicago. A 7-year-old girl was killed over the holiday weekend.

He presents actual test scores of students in traditional public schools and charter schools on New York State Education Department's annual English Language Arts test and its Mathematics Test. Sowell gives the results of student tests in charter schools such as KIPP, Success Academy, Explore Schools, Uncommon Schools, Achievement First as well as the traditional New York City public schools.
On the English Language Arts test, a majority of charter school students, most of whom were black or Hispanic, tested proficient or above.
Their achievement ratio was nearly 5 to 1.
On the Mathematics test 68% of charter schools' 161 grade levels had a majority of students testing proficient.
In the traditional public schools, 177 grade levels, just 10% had a majority of their student testing proficient.
...Sowell says: "In a realm where educational failure has long been the norm — schools in low income minority neighborhoods — this is success, a remarkable success.
What is equally remarkable is how unwelcome this success has been in many places.
