Silicon Valley Donors 'Happiest' with Kamala Harris as Joe Biden's VP
Former Vice President Joe Biden’s selection of Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) sparked enthusiasm for the ticket in Silicon Valley as Harris has kept a close relationship with big tech and done little to obstruct the industry during her tenure in office.
Recode wrote on Tuesday that Biden has struggled, until recently, to “excite the wealthiest and most powerful tech moguls,” whereas Harris will bring “superfans” from the Silicon Valley billionaire class to help out the Democrat presidential ticket.

"An NPR report suggests the global response to COVID-19 may have been based on a flawed assumption about the volatility of COVID19.
We already know that the model used to initially predict infection and death rates was completely flawed, and now discredited, along with the modeler Neil Ferguson of London’s Imperial College.
Back in 2005, Ferguson claimed up to 200 million might die from the Avian flu, but in reality, only about 100 did.
In March 2020, Ferguson was queried by The New York Times with the question: “what the best-case scenario was for the US during the COVID pandemic?”
In March 2020, Ferguson was queried by The New York Times with the question: “what the best-case scenario was for the US during the COVID pandemic?”
“About 1.1 million deaths,” he said. So far, as of this writing, 154,471 deaths have been recorded according to the CDC.
Ferguson’s model numbers overreached reality by about a factor of ten.
From the report: (bold mine)
Mounting evidence suggests the coronavirus is more common and less deadly than it first appeared. The evidence comes from tests that detect antibodies to the coronavirus in a person’s blood rather than the virus itself. The tests are finding large numbers of people in the US who were infected but never became seriously ill. And when these mild infections are included in coronavirus statistics, the virus appears less dangerous.“The current best estimates for the infection fatality risk are between 0.5% and 1%,” says Caitlin Rivers, an epidemiologist at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security. That’s in contrast with death rates of 5% or more based on calculations that included only people who got sick enough to be diagnosed with tests that detect the presence of virus in a person’s body.
Basically, the “nanny state” politicians decided to shut down the global economy to protect people from a contagious virus that has resulted in no symptoms or mild symptoms for up to 90 percent of the people who contracted it.
This will eventually go down as one of the biggest, if not the biggest, scientific and political blunders of the 21st century.

CANCEL CULTURE: Profs targeted for standing up to the Left
- Campus Reform has reported multiple instances where professors have faced discipline for speaking out against popular viewpoints.
- Campus Reform identified the most egregious examples of professors who have fallen victim to "cancel culture."
"As we’ve reported extensively at Campus Reform, professors across America are facing mounting pressure to fall in line with the Left’s “Social Justice” movement.
While it sounds nice, oftentimes, supporting “social justice” means supporting socialist, Marxist policies and organizations.
Increasingly, those within academia who fail to wholeheartedly support such movements are labeled “racists” and “white supremacists” and fired or suspended by their institutions.
Here’s a list breaking down some of the most egregious examples of professors being discriminated against because of their unwillingness to support the far-left social justice movement.

"Very interesting development earlier today, as the Oregon State Police announced they were leaving Portland.
Local reporting says that the move is a result of the announcement by Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt’s that his office does not intend to prosecute most of those arrested.
“The Oregon State Police is continually reassessing our resources and the needs of our partner agencies and at this time we are inclined to move those resources back to counties where prosecution of criminal conduct is still a priority.”...Read all.

VICTORY! California Judge Says John MacArthur Can Hold Indoor Church | Todd Starnes
A California judge today ruled that Pastor John MacArthur and Grace Community Church can hold indoor church services and they can even sing songs.
It proves a point I made in my new book, “Culture Jihad” — when people of faith take a stand and engage their rights we can win the day. Click here to read “Culture Jihad.”
“An historic win,” said Jenna Ellis, the church’s attorney. She pointed out it was the first time a California court recognized that church is essential.
Los Angeles County was hoping the judge would slap Pastor MacArthur with a temporary restraining order forcing him to cease holding indoor services.

West Texas doctor claims to have “silver bullet” for COVID-19
West Texas doctor claims to have “silver bullet” for COVID-19:

Dr. Richard Bartlett works at various clinics around West Texas, and says he’s found a successful treatment for the coronavirus.
“The treatment plan is inhaled, generic budesonide,” Bartlett said. “Using some generic antibiotics to protect from a secondary bacterial infection. Using zinc, which interferes with virus replication. It’s common sense. It’s intuitive.”
Budesonide is a steroid, that can be inhaled directly to the lungs using a nebulizer.

BLM Advocates Looting | Power Line
BLM Advocates Looting | Power Line
"The American press has a long history of sanitizing radical leftist movements. These days the main beneficiary of the press’s airbrush is Black Lives Matter, a racist, Marxist organization that sponsors, in reporters’ words, “mostly peaceful” riots.
As with other far-left groups, BLM does not hide its true colors.
It just relies on the press to misreport them.“The mayor clearly has not learned anything since May, and she would be wise to understand that the people will keep rising up until the [Chicago Police Department] is abolished and our Black communities are fully invested in,” [Black Lives Matter Chicago] said in a statement.
***...“Over the past few months, too many people — disproportionately Black and Brown — have lost their jobs, lost their income, lost their homes, and lost their lives as the city has done nothing and the Chicago elite have profited,” the group’s statement reads. “When protesters attack high-end retail stores that are owned by the wealthy and service the wealthy, that is not ‘our’ city and has never been meant for us.”
BLM made its advocacy of looting explicit with this banner at the group’s demonstration yesterday:

Portland DA Says Protesters Won’t Be Charged With Harassment, Rioting Under New Policy | The Daily Caller
Portland DA Says Protesters Won’t Be Charged With Harassment, Rioting Under New Policy | The Daily Caller:
Multnomah County District Attorney (DA) Mike Schmidt says protesters who took part in George Floyd protests can only be charged with assault, theft or property damage in a new retroactive policy.
The policy comes as Schmidt says the DA’s office needs to “recognize that we will undermine public safety, not promote it, if we leverage the force of our criminal justice system against peaceful protestors who are demanding to be heard,” according to an official statement.
“We will presumptively decline to charge cases where the most serious offenses are city ordinance violations and crimes that do not involve deliberate property damage, theft, or the use or threat of force against another person,” according to Schmidt.
