Paying political supporters on the backs of the "unhoused".-----Revealed: how companies made $100m clearing California homeless camps | California | The Guardian

Public spending on private sweep contractors is soaring across the state – and unhoused people allege poor treatment  - Brian Barth
"On an October morning, a small army arrived to evict Rudy Ortega from his home in the Crash Zone, an encampment located near the end of the airport runway in San Jose, California, Silicon Valley’s largest city.
As jets roared overhead, garbage trucks and police squad cars encircled Ortega’s hand-built shelter. Heavy machinery operators stood by for the signal to bulldoze Ortega’s camp...
The camp, one of the largest in California, was cleared between 2021 and 2023 in part by a private company named Tucker Construction.
  • Public spending on private sweep contractors is soaring across California.
In total, private firms have been paid at least $100m to clear homeless camps...

NPR’s woke turn has destroyed its credibility

A veteran editor has been suspended for speaking out against its identitarian bias. - JENNY HOLLAND
"...Sadly, NPR’s transformation from broadcaster for the broadminded, quirky and intellectually curious – hallmarks of the American liberalism of yore – into purveyor of state propaganda is now beyond doubt...
Today, the American liberal is little more than a faithful Democratic Party hack – closed-minded, dogmatic and terrified of any truth that challenges their worldview.
Last week, veteran NPR editor Uri Berliner published an essay in the Free Press -confirming from the inside what had long been blindingly obvious to any outsider.
‘An open-minded spirit no longer exists within NPR’, Berliner writes. Its journalism has become ‘knee-jerk, activist and scolding’. ‘And now, predictably, we don’t have an audience that reflects America.
The newsroom itself certainly does not reflect America, as Berliner notes.
He surveyed the voter registration of his colleagues in Washington, DC: ‘I found 87 registered Democrats working in editorial positions and zero Republicans. None.’...

Biden apparently has a new favorite alternate history: His uncle was devoured by cannibals | Blaze Media

President Joe Biden has long had an issue disentangling fact from fiction — and when dealing with facts, the 81-year-old Democrat often gets them wrong.

This week, Biden claimed that his uncle, 2nd Lt. Ambrose J. Finnegan Jr., was eaten by cannibals. It is unclear whose story the geriatric president has appropriated on his uncle's behalf, but the U.S. government's official record does not support the story Biden has now elected to tell on at least two occasions.

Apply Middle East Lessons to Taiwan - by Stephen Bryen

Iran's Attack Could be Replicated by China Against Taiwan - STEPHEN BRYEN
"There is still a great deal to learn about Iran's drone and missile attack on Israel.
Even so, it is very clear that if such an attack was launched by China against Taiwan, the results could well be dismal and Taiwan would suffer greatly.
If there is one clear lesson from Iran's attack, it is that the US and Japan along with Taiwan must urgently prepare to fend off a similar attack.
In the Iranian attack on Israel:
  • 170 Kamikaze Drones were fired. None entered Israeli territory. At least one appears to have landed in Iran.
  • 30 Cruise Missiles were fired; 25 were shot down outside of Israeli territory.
  • 103 out of 110 Ballistic Missiles were shot down; 7 Ballistic Missile impacts were recorded on Israeli territory. Five of them hit the Nevatim air base damaging at least one transport plane...
The pivot of the operation outside of Israel was the US Central Command (CENTCOM). CENTCOM coordinated the actions of all the players...
This is an important, in fact a vital lesson for defending Taiwan....

New Biden Campaign Ad Mocked Over Laughable Claim About His Mental State

New Biden Campaign Ad Mocked Over Laughable Claim About His Mental State

If President Joe Biden’s latest campaign ad is any indication, his team is worried about America’s perception of his current mental acuity.

And it doesn’t look like this video is going to help.

The 30-second spot, which was released on social media Thursday, opens with a man identified as Jojo Burgess, from Washington, Pennsylvania, who claims to have beeen a “proud steelworker” for more than two decades.

“Every person who's spent any time in D.C. knows the ... classified intel briefing in the SCIF is merely a leash,” Tucker Carlson said in a post last week. “It’s a collar around your neck attached to a chain, and at the other hand is your handler ... telling you that if you don’t go along with the program, Americans will die.”

Funny how the pressure works up so often for wars abroad and so rarely for deaths at home. But in Washington that pressure is relentless — and one-sided.

And we see the results play out the same way, time and time again: The War Party gets what it wants, the appropriators spend what they want, the latest tax bill always passes. But the concerns of the American people? The invasion of our southern border? Take a number and get in line. Maybe next year. (But probably not.)

The war on Lucky Charms - Don Surber

Cigarettes are OK but the government is going after a cereal because it may give you diarrhea - Don Surber
"...The government is soooooooo concerned about your health, isn’t it?
And yet, 60 years after the Surgeon General’s report, you can still buy a pack of smokes.
If we slapped a $5 a box tax on Lucky Charms, there would be no problem.
  • The government doesn’t care about your health. It just wants a piece of the action.
Lucky Strikes are protected, but they’re always after me Lucky Charms.
The campaign against Lucky Charms began two years ago.
Matthew Cantor of the Guardian reported at the time, “According to a mountain of consumer claims, the cereal is causing an array of gastrointestinal symptoms, including nausea and diarrhea...

Unfortunately, the potential benefits of raw dairy are a secret to most Americans. That’s because the federal government and dairy lobbyists warn that raw milk is inherently dangerous, and they claim that consuming raw milk and raw dairy products can lead to severe illness — or even death. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in fact, describes raw milk as “one of the riskiest foods."

But is that true?

As it turns out, the government, dairy lobby, and the so-called “experts” are not telling you the full story.

Bjorn Lomborg: Why solar and wind power aren’t winning
  • All-in costs too high once you count fossil fuel and battery backups, land requirements and damage their equipment does.
"We are constantly being told that solar and wind are now the cheapest forms of electricity.
Yet governments around the world felt they had to spend US$1.8 trillion on the green transition last year.
  • Wind and solar only produce power when the sun is shining or the wind is blowing...
Modern societies need power 24/7.
Solar and wind power’s unreliable and intermittent operation involve large, often hidden costs...
  • In the world’s poorest, electricity-starved countries, however, there is little fossil fuel energy infrastructure to begin with.
  • Hypocritically, wealthy countries refuse to fund sorely needed fossil fuel energy in the developing world.
  • Instead, they insist the world’s poor cope with unreliable green energy supplies that can’t power the pumps or agricultural machinery needed to lift populations out of poverty...
