DETROIT -- During an appearance on “CNN Newsroom” Friday, Michigan Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist said more needs to be done at a national level to help communities of color as the battle with COVID-19 continues to hit those communities hard....“There may be more to it. These disparities have existed for generations and COVID-19 has frankly just shone a brighter light on why this is particularly deadly in this pandemic," Gilchrist said.
Yesterday, Gilchrist was named the chair of the newly formed Michigan Coronavirus Task Force on Racial Disparities which was announced by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
The task force is directed with addressing racial disparities in health care during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis..."
