1) The attempted assassin charged the stage, with the blade, and engaged in hand to hand combat with Zeldin, his LT. GOV. candidate, campaign staffers, and some of the site hosts. This was caught on video. 2) The weapon was not a metal blade, but a heavy duty plastic tool designed to be used as a weapon on a keychain. Just in passing, it is illegal to possess in New York. 3) The crime merited being charged with multiple counts of attempted murder or assault with a deadly weapon. Along with criminal possession of the weapon. 4) The attempted assassin was charged with "attempted 2nd Degree Assault" and released without bond. A Democrat attacking a Republican candidate is not a violation of the law in a Democrat state.
