Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent wasted no time turning the numbers into a weapon, telling Congress

 “𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘸𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘵𝘰𝘮 25 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘸𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘱.”

The official poverty rate landed at 10.2%, matching the lowest level ever measured — first hit in 2019, during Trump’s own first term. 

• Median household income climbed 2.6% to $87,460, 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝, which was also set under Trump. 
• Child poverty fell to a historic low of 13.4%, and 
• Hispanic poverty hit a record low of 13.9%.

Bessent didn’t stop there.
