New York's Board of Regents just voted to stop requiring students to pass Regents exams to graduate.

The class of 2028 will be the first to earn a diploma without passing one. - The College Investor
Nationally, 45% of high school seniors now score below Basic in math (meaning they can't show even partial mastery of grade-level work) and that's the worst result NAEP has ever recorded. 
  • When a student arrives at college underprepared, they pay tuition for remedial courses that award no degree credit. 
  • Fewer than 10% of students placed into remediation finish an associate degree within three years.
