ISIS, Not ISIL: What’s in a Name? | American Center for Law and Justice

ISIS, Not ISIL: What’s in a Name? | American Center for Law and Justice:

"Defeating the enemy requires proper recognition of the enemy. And as the ACLJ has been arguing for years now, you never define your enemy by their aspirations. Now, the Trump Administration is implementing the change we’ve been advocating for years.

The change of leadership in the White House just produced a striking change of terminology in the war against the Islamic State terrorist group. The name preferred by the Obama Administration, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, (or ISIL) goes away. In its place comes the name favored by President Donald Trump: The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS."

Colorado Rocky Mountain low-----More visitors than locals died in Summit County last year, coroner report says | SummitDaily.com

More visitors than locals died in Summit County last year, coroner report says | SummitDaily.com: "The Summit County coroner recorded a total of 82 deaths last year, according to the office's 2016 annual report.
That's down slightly from 2015, which saw an all-time record of 87 cases, but still up significantly from 60 deaths in 2014.
Visitors to Summit County accounted for more deaths than locals for the first time since 2010.
Image result for Summit County Colorado...As of last Friday, 13 people had died in the county so far this year, including two skier deaths and one undetermined cause. The rest were ruled natural.
..Among those, the most common cause of death was cardiac-related, which Wood said reflected the toll that high elevation can take on the body — and the circulatory system in particular.
Wood said that in several such cases involving non-residents last year, the deceased had been cleared by their home doctors to travel to high elevations but still succumbed to fatal cardiac events.
In one case, she said, an elderly person passed a heart "stress test" at sea level but died of a sudden cardiac event during her first day in Summit.
"We find that doctors around the country aren't too aware of the effects on a person's system of being at altitude," Wood said.
"They're fine at sea level, and then they come up here and their condition changes..."

Duh!-----Cost of Illegal Immigration Higher than Cost of Securing Borders

Cost of Illegal Immigration Higher than Cost of Securing Borders:
The Hungarian government’s decision to rapidly construct strong border fences along their frontiers has had a positive financial effect, achieving substantial savings on the cost of illegal immigration.
Zoltán Kovács, official spokesman for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, told Hungarian media last week that “the monies spent on border protection are very obviously being recouped”.
Speaking to Breitbart London, the Hungarian government’s International Communications Office explained:
The Hungarian state spends a total of 5,505 forints on the daily care of each illegal immigrant.
...the introduction of “technical barriers” to illegal migration on the Hungarian/Serbian border slashed crossings via that route from 200,000 in 2015 to 25,000 in 2016 – a massive theoretical saving.
...Costs vary between countries: Freedom of Information responses obtained by the Daily
In Germany the cost of supporting migrants has been even more dramatic, hitting 30 billion euros in 2016.
Indeed, it was the economic activity associated with public spending on migrants which allowed Germany to overtake the UK as the fastest-growing G7 economy of last year..."

Russian Election ‘Hacking’: FBI Is Not Investigating Trump Campaign | National Review:

"the media and Democrats have been playing with fire for months. The use of law-enforcement and national-security assets to investigate one’s political opponents during a heated election campaign has always been a potentially explosive story. Let’s not kid ourselves: If the roles were reversed, and a Republican administration had investigated officials tied to the campaign of the Democrats’ nominee, we would be drowning in a sea of Watergate 2.0 coverage."

GW students refuse to embrace 'nonviolence' in formation of anti-Trump club

GW students refuse to embrace 'nonviolence' in formation of anti-Trump club - The College Fix:
"Violence can work wonders, making colleges afraid to allow controversial speakers on campus, lest they suffer the fates of the University of California-Berkeley and Middlebury.
So why would “intersectional” anti-Trump activists at George Washington University want to give it up?
Image result for Adolf Hitler Brown ShirtsThe GW Hatchet obtained the minutes from the first meeting of a group calling itself the GW Coalition for Intersectional Justice:
On Nov. 10, members of at least 25 student organizations came to the first meeting for the group …
But the group fractured in their second meeting Nov. 20 when some student leaders opposed mandating nonviolence, which kept protesting students from burning flags and practicing self-defense in potential altercations with President Donald Trump’s supporters.

An official with the Mexican Students Association said it was his group’s idea to renounce violence in the meetings to form the coalition, which drew about 50 student organization leaders:
...At a second meeting attended by “at least” 38 students, the groups agreed on the “intersectional” name and condemned “violence in all forms against marginalized people” – but not those they didn’t consider marginalized..."

Dumbing down dunces-----New York education leaders mull repeal of literacy test — for teachers!

New York education leaders mull repeal of literacy test — for teachers! | EAGnews.org:
"NEW YORK – The New York Post is calling out the state’s Board of Regents for opening the door for teachers who can’t read or write.
According to a recent editorial:
Image result for dumbing down of americaAt its meeting Monday, the board will vote on eliminating the Academic Literacy Skills Test, which is designed to measure prospective teachers’ reading and writing ability. It’ll also consider lowering standards on another test, called edTAP, which requires teachers to show their skills by videotaping their lessons.
Why drop the bar? To make it easier — especially for minorities — to become teachers. In 2013-14, just 48 percent of blacks and 56 percent of Hispanics passed the literacy test, versus 75 percent of whites. To fix the problem, the geniuses at the board would simply scrap the test.
The irony, of course, is that by lowering the bar for teacher certification, instead of addressing poor standards in teacher training colleges, the Regents are doing minority students far more harm than good..."

PBS & NPR: Cutting the cord - NetRight Daily:
"...NPR and PBS still receive over $400 million in federal funding each year.

...Or you may actually find some of the content offensive or insufferably biased.

Appropriate for Rachel Maddow or progressive talk radio — absolutely!  But this time, your tax dollars paid for it.
Yet, according to its own published “Audience Profile,” NPR brags to commercial sponsors that its audience skews heavily toward the wealthy and powerful.
NPR listeners are:

  • 74 percent more likely than other Americans to earn greater than $100,000 in annual income;
  • 133 percent more likely than other Americans to be top management; and
  • 148 percent more likely than other Americans to be C-Suite executives.

In other words, you may not watch PBS or listen to NPR, but your boss might and your boss’ boss probably does.
And the CPB wants you to keep paying for them..."

A besieged establishment digs in | Washington Examiner

A besieged establishment digs in | Washington Examiner:

"President Trump won the White House by running against the establishment, mocking the accepted positions and the approved rhetoric of both the political ruling class in Washington and the cultural ruling class in Hollywood. In so doing, he became the de facto spokesman of the forgotten Americans overlooked if not held in disdain by these coastal elites. All the while, he won the undying enmity of an establishment that see him as a mortal threat to their continued dominance.

Since the shock of Trump's resounding electoral victory, that establishment has kicked into full panic mode and is resorting to increasingly desperate measures in a doomed attempt to reverse the election results. "

Everyone gonna get an "A"?-----Right to literacy would be enshrined in Michigan's constitution under Democratic proposal

Right to literacy would be enshrined in Michigan's constitution under Democratic proposal | MLive.com:
"Democrats in the Michigan House of Representative want to amend the state constitution to include a right to literacy for all children, arguing too many students lack the reading and writing skills needed to succeed in life.
Image result for everyone gets an a"The ability to read is a critical skill that forms the foundation of nearly every aspect of our students' lives," said Rep. Darrin Camilleri, D-Brownstown Township.
Camilleri's amendment does not define literacy, but he said students would meet the threshold if they receive a score of proficient or above on the English language arts portion of the Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress.
Less than half the state's 3rd graders met the target in 2016.
...It's relatively rare for states to amend their Constitutions to require specific educational outcomes..."

Mark Levin’s homerun: liberal media admits government spied on, wiretapped political opponents.

Investigate Obamagate | The American Spectator:
"Obamagate is here.
And Mark Levin is on the case.
First on his Thursday radio show and then in his appearance on Fox and Friends over the weekend, Mark laid out in chapter and verse the mainstream media’s own reporting that the Obama administration was responsible for using government agencies to spy on its political opponents — namely Donald Trump, his aides, and then-U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions, now the Attorney General of the United States.
Said the former chief of staff to U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese III:
This is not about President Trump’s tweeting; this is about the Obama administration spying.…
Image result for obamagateThe issue isn’t whether the Obama administration spied on the Trump campaign or transition of surrogates; the issue is the extent of it….
Donald Trump is the victim.
His campaign is the victim.
His transition team is the victim.
His surrogates are the victim.
To the question of whether former President Obama was involved?
After noting that there were repeated stories on the government’s spying of Trump and others in the New York Times and the Washington Post — newspapers unquestionably well-read by the Obama White House — the talk radio host added: “I will tell you this, he’s more involved than he says; it’s his executive branch.”
Bingo.
Is this another Watergate?
Here’s the History Channel’s description of the original Watergate scandal that eventually forced the resignation of President Richard Nixon, bold print supplied:

Education: Limit Federal Power by Killing ESSA Regulations | National Review

Education: Limit Federal Power by Killing ESSA Regulations | National Review:

"December 2015, Congress passed the Every Student Succeeds Act, dubbed the “largest devolution of federal control to the states in a quarter-century” by the Wall Street Journal. Republicans and Democrats alike had grown frustrated with the Obama Department of Education’s operating like a national school board, dictating everything from teacher evaluation to school-turnaround strategies. Massive bipartisan majorities passed ESSA with an eye to returning Washington to a more modest and appropriate role.

But before the ink on the law was even dry, Arne Duncan, Obama’s secretary of education, mocked the will of Congress, boasting that it would be easy to get around the law’s restrictions: “We have every ability to implement, to regulate the law. . . . Our lawyers are much smarter than many of the folks who were working on this bill.”

Grab yer wallets folks!-----How Michigan's 'prohibitive' child care costs could be hampering our economy

How Michigan's 'prohibitive' child care costs could be hampering our economy - Crain's Detroit Business:
"A huge and rising cost is keeping workers, especially women, out of the workforce in Michigan and nationwide — child care.

It's an often-overlooked factor at a time when unemployment is low and the White House says it aims to put more people to work, which will mean pulling people back into the active labor force.
Michigan is the 12th least-affordable state for infant care, which averages $9,882 annually, or $824 per month..."

Blog: Trump Hatred: Is It The Message or the Messenger?

Blog: Trump Hatred: Is It The Message or the Messenger?:
"Trump derangement syndrome is the new political disease afflicting not only Democrats, but also much of the political establishment, including Republicans and the #NeverTrump crowd.
Some of this is natural when a Republican is in the White House, as we saw during the George W. Bush presidency.
Remember “Bush Derangement Syndrome”?
Image result for obama trump immigrationThis year a new strain has emerged, more virulent, and potentially fatal to the weak and feeble-minded, namely establishment Republicans.
Is this over-the-top hatred of anything and everything Trump based on Trump’s policy initiatives?
Or is it personal, based simply on the persona of Donald Trump?
Could it be his message during the campaign and now into his Presidency?

  • Things like, “The era of big Government is over.”
  • Or the initiative to, “Take our streets back from crime and gangs and drugs.”
  • Or a goal of, “Eliminating 16,000 pages of unnecessary rules and regulations, shifting more decision-making out of Washington, back to States and local communities.”

Harsh words from Trump.
No wonder no one likes him.
Oh, wait!
These words were from Bill Clinton in his 1996 State of the Union address.
Perhaps Trump’s stand on immigration is the cause of the derangement syndrome.
Assertions like:

  • “Because we live in an age where terrorists are challenging our borders, we simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, and unchecked.”
  • Or these sentiments, mentioned frequently on the campaign trail.  “Americans are right to demand better border security and better enforcement of the immigration laws.”
  • No wonder both Democrats and Republicans are against Trump, for as they like to say,
  • “This is not who we are.”

Oh, wait again.
Those are not Donald Trump quotes, instead they are the words of Senator Barack Obama in a 2006 Senate floor speech..."

Image result for interfering with the election""Voting machines in more than one-third of all Detroit precincts registered more votes than they should have during last month's presidential election, according to Wayne County records prepared at the request of The Detroit News," according to a report today in the Detroit newspaper.
"Detailed reports from the office of Wayne County Clerk Cathy Garrett show optical scanners at 248 of the city's 662 precincts, or 37 percent, tabulated more ballots than the number of voters tallied by workers in the poll books."
And while the problem of potential ballot stuffing was the worst in Detroit, it was bad all over the state:
"Overall, state records show 10.6 percent of the precincts in the 22 counties that began the retabulation process couldn't be recounted because of state law that bars recounts for unbalanced precincts or ones with broken seals.""
