Brain in the Box

By Tammy Derouin

The Democratic Party continued to show its true colors this past week by revealing to the nation and the world that they do not care about anything but their own political best interests. The party which likes to peddle the belief that they are superior, the champions of individualism, never mind the fact that encroaching on the rights of others is acceptable if they don't line up with “their” beliefs and ideals, proved on live television and to the world that they are a coalition of contemptuousness. You could almost see the hatred oozing out them as they listened or pretended to listen to the State of the Union address.

If you watched the State of the Union, the Democrats put on a sorrowful show. The shear ugliness which they have created and perfected was an embarrassing spectacle. The facial contortions provided by Nancy Pelosi, the sunken look of Chuck Schumer and the disrespectful behavior of the party in general, as some were caught playing games on their phones, was a national embarrassment. The Democratic side of the chamber, with but a few exceptions, showed their desire to be of one mind, thinking inside their crippling box of enslavement.

Free will appears to be a thing of the past if you are part of the Democratic Party. At times you could see the desire, the need to be an individual rise up among certain members of the enslaved party. When the President made pro-American, bipartisan statements, there were many looks of confusion. Heads began to turn, as a feeling of uncertainty overcame them. They seemed to be looking for a nod of approval. Was it OK to think for themselves, stand and applaud if they were so moved? Who was holding the brain in the box? For the most part, the desire to think as an individual was suppressed by the allegiance to the party. Perhaps the desire to have free will was overpowered by possibly being accused of betraying their party and the consequences they may have endured......

Enviros Push Meat Tax | Americans for Tax Reform

Enviros Push Meat Tax | Americans for Tax Reform:
See the source image"Environmentalists are targeting your hamburgers and buffalo wings with a “Meat Tax.”
And they claim they have “never been closer to a meat tax.”
As reported by Bloomberg Law:
Hamburger addicts, barbecue junkies, and fried chicken fanatics may soon be asked to pay a surcharge for their obsessions with meat.
Excise taxes on beef, pork, and chicken could be the next big thing in a state and local tax environment that’s already comfortable with “sin tax” regimes aimed at cigarettes, alcoholic beverages, and gambling and is adapting quickly to special levies on sugar-sweetened beverages, greenhouse gases, and marijuana..."

How GE Went From American Icon to Astonishing Mess-----Businessweek - Bloomberg

Businessweek - Bloomberg:
"...For most of its 126-year history, GE has exemplified the fecundity and might of corporate capitalism.
Image result for ge It manufactured consumer products and industrial machinery, powered commercial airliners and nuclear submarines, produced radar altimeters and romantic comedies.
It won Nobel Prizes and helped win world wars.
And it did it all lucratively, rewarding investors through recessions, technological disruption, and the late 20th century collapse of American manufacturing.
That long, proud run may have come to an end.
It happened, as Ernest Hemingway wrote of going bankrupt, “gradually and then suddenly.” GE hasn’t inspired awe for some time now: The company had to be bailed out in 2008 by the federal government and Warren Buffett, and across the 16-year tenure of recently departed Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Immelt its stock was the worst performer in the Dow Jones industrial average..."

She’s back: Woman who targeted student for expulsion after she refused to try on a hijab resurfaces – twitchy.com:
Image result for NationalHijabDay."As Twitchy reported Thursday, a University of Central Florida student named Kathy Zhu (@PoliticalKathy) was the target of a campaign to have her expelled after she refused to try on a hijab for #NationalHijabDay.
Rayyan Sukkarieh (@anotherarabb), who helped organize the “try on a hijab” event on campus, called for Twitter to “do its thing” and “get this girl expelled.” After the story blew up, Sukkarieh locked down her Twitter account and moved to another handle — but now she’s back, and her tweets lobbying for an expulsion are back up.
I’m in the back of the first pic (w/o my consent lol) and I invited you to try one on and you said “no thank you.” You didn’t take the time to even ask questions or try to understand what Hijab is. That’s ignorant of you. You literally sprinted after taking the photos. Pathetic. https://twitter.com/politicalkathy/status/959114087421661191
TWITTER DO YOUR THING

Let’s get this girl expelled. Email st_condu@ucf.edu (UCF OFFICE OF STUDENT CONDUCT) and send them Kathy’s tweet, including the photos in her thread. Ignorance will not be tolerated on my campus.

Stockton’s 'Basic Income' Plan Diverts City From Its Real Duties - Reason.com

Stockton’s 'Basic Income' Plan Diverts City From Its Real Duties - Reason.com:
"There's a simple solution to the nation's poverty and inequality problems, an acquaintance told me several years ago.
Image result for what could possibly go wrongHe suggested that the federal government simply give $1 million to every citizen and, voila, we'd all be rich and happy.
After some quick math (323 million x $1 million = more trillions than even the U.S. Treasury can print), he realized that he didn't add enough zeroes to his cost calculation.
Turning the United States into Zimbabwe, where a $1 trillion note won't even buy a soda, isn't much of an idea.
But while the above thought experiment is zany, a number of politicians and economists are proposing a similar idea—but on a much more modest scale.
In fact, one of California's most impoverished cities, Stockton, is working on a proposal that would provide a "Universal Basic Income" to a small number of residents..."
