• Canada was perfectly entitled to say no.
• But that is not the same thing as Washington demanding that Canada abandon or weaken the French language...

Carney could have simply told Canadians what happened:
The U.S. wanted changes to Canadian streaming, content and labelling rules. 

• Canada refused some of them.
• Instead, Canadians were given a much more dramatic story about standing up for the French language itself...
