Corporate America Is Obsessed With Debate on Elite Campuses - Bloomberg
...A new study shows that 39 percent of the top U.S. liberal arts campuses haven’t a single Republican faculty member; at many others, the number is insignificant.
Its author, Mitchell Langbert of Brooklyn College, wrote: “Thus, 78.2 percent of the academic departments in my sample have either zero Republicans, or so few as to make no difference.”
...One thing all sides agree on is that what happens on elite campuses influences what happens in corporate America—even if the majority of students view the debate as background noise as they earn credentials and broaden their knowledge.
The battle over how much to protect students from potentially offensive speech is playing out more and more in companies as graduates of elite institutions bring their sensibilities to work..."

- The day Donald Trump was elected, the five-college Claremont campus east of Los Angeles went into mourning.
- Maria Klawe, the president of Harvey Mudd College, sent out an email expressing sympathy for anyone feeling “vulnerable and unsafe.”
- David Oxtoby, president of Pomona College, said, “On a day like this, the personal and the political cannot be separated.”
- Pitzer College President Melvin Oliver urged students to channel energy into activism.

The Democrats have viciously overplayed their hand
The Democrats have viciously overplayed their hand:
Can there be any Americans following this story who are not enraged and offended by the obvious orchestrated smear of a good and decent man? According to some polls, yes. Who are the people who believe these accusers? How could any American fall for such a scam? No mystery there. American educational standards have fallen so drastically that young people have no civic knowledge. They know nothing about American history or the Constitution.
This has been by design. The left has controlled how history is taught for at least three decades. Young people don't even know that one must be presumed innocent until proven guilty. These Ford-supporting senators don't seem to remember this, either. That in itself is stunning. The Democrats have assembled a mob, and "The mob is the mother of tyrants" (Diogenes).
As Blasey Ford's story disintegrates, the Dems conveniently found the second woman willing to throw herself on the pyre of indecency in order to destroy a fine man and his family.

Median income in the US hits all-time high - Business Insider:
It's now the highest income year on record, beating the previous high of $58,655 in 1999 (all numbers are adjusted for inflation).
The US poverty rate simultaneously declined about 1% to 12.7%, returning to nearly the same level as in 2007, prior to the recession. In total, 2.5 million fewer people were in poverty in 2016 than in 2015.
Plus, almost every demographic group experienced a rise in incomes last year, according to the Census, thanks to more Americans securing full-time and better-paying jobs — a total year-over-year rise of about 2.2 million workers.

U.S. Urged to Rapidly Prepare for Electromagnetic Pulse Attack
"The United States is vulnerable to a devastating electromagnetic pulse event caused by a high-altitude nuclear blast or solar superstorm, according to a recently published book.
..."Today the United States and the world faces another existential threat—from an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) catastrophe...topple the technological pillars of modern electronic civilization," said Pry, who served on a congressional EMP commission in the early 2000s.
The book contains fresh assessments of the EMP threat produced by a more recent congressional commission last year that concluded the United States would suffer millions of deaths from a major EMP incident.
..."An extended blackout today could result in the death of a large fraction of the American people through the effects of societal collapse, disease, and starvation," the commission stated in its July 2017 report.
"While national planning and preparation for such events could help mitigate the damage, few such actions are currently underway or even being contemplated."
The book warns that China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran are preparing to use EMP attacks combined with traditional military strikes and new cyber attacks in future conflicts..."

William R. Graham, former head of the EMP commission, stated in a preface to the book that a nationwide electrical blackout of one year "could kill millions, perhaps prove fatal to most Americans, by starvation, disease, and societal collapse."
"EMP is a civilization killer," Graham said. The book warns that China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran are preparing to use EMP attacks combined with traditional military strikes and new cyber attacks in future conflicts..."

When it was published in 1960, Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird won the Pulitzer Prize for literature and became an instant classic. In 1962, it was made into a movie starring Gregory Peck, a role for which he won an Academy Award for Best Actor.
The story is based on Lee’s childhood in rural Alabama during the 1930s.
The narrator is six-year-old Jean Louise Finch. The protagonist is her father, Atticus, who is a small-town lawyer appointed by the court to represent Tom Robinson, a black man who has been charged with raping Mayella Ewell, a young white woman. Despite the community’s near universal condemnation, Atticus defends Tom in and out of court.
One night, Atticus sits vigil outside the county jail where Tom is being held. A lynch mob arrives, and, while Atticus blocks their way, little Jean Louise appears and sweetly greets some of the lynchers by name. Shamed by her innocence, they back down.
At the trial, Mayella testifies unconvincingly that Tom raped her. When Atticus gently cross-examines her, she breaks into tears and angrily repeats her claim.
Under questioning by Atticus, Tom convincingly protests his innocence. After Atticus’ closing argument, it is clear to the reader that Mayella is lying and Tom is innocent.
But facts and logic do not carry the day. The jury quickly convicts Tom. While Atticus is visiting Tom’s wife to discuss the appeal, word comes that Tom has been shot and killed while trying to escape.
Viewing this classic tale from the perspective of 2018 and the #MeToo movement, it is clear that Harper Lee, a female, was a self-hating misogynist who promoted for profit the idea that a woman could actually lie about sexual assault and that such a lie couldunfairly destroy an unjustly accused man’s life.
Atticus Finch, the so-called hero of the story, is glorified for questioning the victim’s credibility, as if that sort of behavior is supposed to be acceptable and, even worse, praiseworthy.
How did such a disgustingpiece of trash get published?
Why haven’t the book and movie been banned for promoting a negative stereotype of women?...

The Accountable Capitalism Act: Socialist and Unconstitutional | The Heritage Foundation
Warren’s Accountable Capitalism Act has serious enforcement powers. It permits the federal government to revoke the charter of a U.S. company if it has engaged in “repeated and egregious illegal conduct” — as defined, of course, by the federal government.
ACA is not a small or even a giant step toward socialism. It is socialism.

Ben Shapiro Dismantles Bernie Sanders' Disparaging View Of America | Daily Wire
Ben Shapiro Dismantles Bernie Sanders' Disparaging View Of America | Daily Wire:
Shapiro then played a clip of the perpetual grumpy Sanders complaining:
"We can’t even use dirty words. This is the United States Senate ... We just starve little children, we go bomb houses and buses of children, and give tax breaks to billionaires, but we don’t use dirty words."
Sanders' "ignorant and unfunny" take on the country, said Shapiro, was important to examine a little more closely because "it reveals a serious gap in the way Americans from the hard Left think versus the rest of America."
"In the view of the hard Left, universal ills are uniquely America’s fault;

"A comprehensive new study on cholesterol, based on results from more than a million patients, could help upend decades of government advice about diet, nutrition, health, prevention, and medication.
Just don't hold your breath.
The study, published in the Expert Review of Clinical Pharmacology, centers on statins, a class of drugs used to lower levels of LDL-C, the so-called "bad" cholesterol, in the human body.
According to the study, statins are pointless for most people.
"No evidence exists to prove that having high levels of bad cholesterol causes heart disease, leading physicians have claimed" in the study, reports the Daily Mail.
The Express likewise says the new study finds "no evidence that high levels of 'bad' cholesterol cause heart disease."...

How Dianne Feinstein is conspiring to destroy Brett Kavanaugh
How Dianne Feinstein is conspiring to destroy Brett Kavanaugh:
For starters, they argue that Feinstein, who is the top Democrat on the Senate committee vetting Kavanaugh, orchestrated an “11th-hour ambush” of the conservative nod by withholding a letter from the committee’s Republican majority alleging sexual misconduct by Kavanaugh until the day the panel was preparing to take a vote to confirm him — almost two months after receiving the letter and well after the vetting and hearing process.
“You chose to sit on the allegations until a politically opportune moment,” a furious Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) scolded Feinstein in a letter dated Sept. 19.
