Texas Democrats ask noncitizens to register to vote - Washington Times
Texas Democrats ask noncitizens to register to vote - Washington Times:
The Texas Democratic Party asked noncitizens to register to vote, sending out applications to immigrants with the box citizenship already checked “Yes,” according to complaints filed Thursday asking prosecutors to see what laws may have been broken.
The Public Interest Legal Foundation alerted district attorneys and the Justice Department to the prechecked applications and included a signed affidavit from a man who said some of his relatives, who aren’t citizens, received the mailing.
“This is how the Texas Democratic Party is inviting foreign influence in an election in a federal election cycle,” said Logan Churchwell, spokesman for the Public Interest Legal Foundation. The group has made its mark by policing states’ voter registration practices.

"Wind farms will cause more environmental impact than previously thought
When it comes to energy production, there’s no such thing as a free lunch, unfortunately.
"Wind farms will cause more environmental impact than previously thought
As the world begins its large-scale transition toward low-carbon energy sources, it is vital that the pros and cons of each type are well understood and the environmental impacts of renewable energy, small as they may be in comparison to coal and gas, are considered.
In two papers — published today in the journals Environmental Research Letters and Joule — Harvard University researchers find that the transition to wind or solar power in the U.S.
- would require five to 20 times more land than previously thought, and, if such large-scale wind farms were built,
- would warm average surface temperatures over the continental U.S. by 0.24 degrees Celsius..."

Unlimited Growth and Climate Change Economists Win Nobel Prize - Hit & Run : Reason.com:
"New York University economist Paul Romer and Yale economist William Nordhaus have been jointly awarded this year's Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.
Of the two, Romer's contributions are much more fundamental and far-reaching.
Romer won based on his conceptual overthrow of old-fashioned limits-to-growth economics.
As the Nobel Committee notes, Romer "showed that growth driven by the accumulation of ideas, unlike growth driven by the accumulation of physical capital, does not have to experience decreasing returns.
In other words, ideas-driven growth can be sustained over time."
Economic growth and wealth creation is limited only if one believes that human ingenuity is limited.
In my 2001 Reason article "Post-Scarcity Prophet," I explained that Romer's "New Growth Theory shows that economic growth doesn't arise just from adding more labor to more capital, but from new and better ideas expressed as technological progress.
Along the way, it transforms economics from a 'dismal science' that describes a world of scarcity and diminishing returns into a discipline that reveals a path toward constant improvement and unlimited potential.
Ideas, in Romer's formulation, really do have consequences.
Big ones."...

Setting The Record Straight On Why Fighter Jets Can't All Simply Fly Away To Escape Storms - The Drive
Setting The Record Straight On Why Fighter Jets Can't All Simply Fly Away To Escape Storms - The Drive:
"We have been leading the coverage on the state of aircraft left behind after Hurricane Michael made a direct strike on the highly important Tyndall Air Force Base.
We have posted pictures showing QF-16s, Mu-2s, and yes, F-22s, sitting among the rubble inside badly damaged hangars at the base.
The USAF has stated that aircraft were left behind, with unofficial figures being reported that range from three to 18 of the precious super fighters riding out the storm on site.
Even though I repeatedly explained why not all aircraft can fly off in advance of a storm's arrival, I have been inundated with tweets, Facebook messages, emails, and comments ranging from people demanding to know how this could have happened to being outraged that the commanders at the base didn't see that all of the planes flew out and that they should face stiff punishments for their actions. Some even claimed they should have been flown out on transport planes.
These are naive and in some cases absurd statements that are totally divorced from the reality of tactical jet operations.
Here's why..."

San Juan Mayor Calls for 'Due Process' Amid FBI Raid of City's Offices, Didn't Offer Same Advice for Kavanaugh | MRCTV:
Checkmate, Mayor Cruz. That doesn't look like someone who looks for justice by the way of “due process” in every case, does it?
I guess due process only comes into play when it’s convenient for the Left. It just goes to show that the Left’s true mantra, ‘Do as I say, not as I do,’ rings true in the case of Cruz.

‘Why don’t you go kill yourself? GOP candidates physically assaulted
‘Why don’t you go kill yourself? GOP candidates physically assaulted: "There was
- Eric Holder’s call to kick Republicans,
- Maxine Waters’ to harass Trump officials in public,
- Nancy Pelosi’s “I just don’t know why there aren’t uprisings” and
- Hillary Clinton’s “You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for.”
- The Democratic calls for violence were reinforced by a Minnesota Democratic official who tweeted that Republicans should be led to the guillotines.
The result so far?
Two injured GOP candidates..."

Why Do Millennials Like Socialism? Betsy DeVos Cites Lack of Civics Education:

And I think that the Democrats were counting on Hillary [Clinton] being in the White House because they, in the previous administration, wrote a whole bunch of regulations in addition to the actual statute that were going to place undue and overreach burdens on states. So that was all rescinded, rolled back, right at the start of this administration.

America’s Ghost Legions of Idle Men | Intellectual Takeout
"...While “unemployment” has gone down, the work participation rate, and especially the male work rate, has been relentlessly declining for most of the post-War era and is now reaching a crisis with Depression-era levels.
In his new book, Men Without Work, Eberstadt describes this as a deep moral and social crisis which is passing almost unnoticed by politicians, pundits, business leaders and economists.
One-sixth of all men of prime working age in America – men aged between 25 and 54 – are not just unemployed, but have stopped looking for jobs altogether.
This is a time bomb with far reaching economic, social, and political consequences.
....Never before in American history have so many men done absolutely nothing.
Millions are becoming dependent, infantilized and sick.
...And what did they do with their time?
Learn French?
Paint watercolours?
Help at a local nursing home?
Vacuuming?
None of the above.
They spent less time in volunteer and religious activities than the other three groups.
They don’t read newspapers much.
They don’t vote much.
A third of them have used illegal drugs in the past year.
Basically they did nothing much..."

Choke Point Documents Show Obama Was Far From Scandal-Free:
But there’s another scandal that’s seldom mentioned but has ongoing repercussions: Operation Choke Point.
The name says it all. The goal of Operation Choke Point, dubbed that and designed by the Justice Department under Obama’s first attorney general, Eric Holder, was to choke out of the banking system entire industries that the Obama administration didn’t like.

Kimberly-Clark, which owns Kleenex, said the tissues would now be known as “Extra Large”, despite not itself believing that the Mansize branding suggests or endorses gender inequality.

Killing the Electoral College Would Alienate Half the Country
Killing the Electoral College Would Alienate Half the Country:
A large part of Americans’ miseducation is the often-heard claim that we are a democracy. The word “democracy” appears nowhere in the two most fundamental documents of our nation—the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. In fact, our Constitution—in Article 4, Section 4—guarantees “to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government.”
