A national tragedy-----Why Millennials Are So Much Lonelier than the Greatest Generation

Why Millennials Are So Much Lonelier than the Greatest Generation:
  • A new study found that young people are far likelier to report being lonely and in poor health than the elderly.
"USA Today recently reported on a study commissioned by the Cigna insurance company which examined the impact of loneliness on health.
See the source imageThe results are striking: young people are much more likely to report being lonely and in bad health than the elderly.
...The study asserts that loneliness has the same effect on health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
...What then is the difference between my parents’ generation and the Baby Boomers and the Millennials?
The Boomers and their children are far less likely to be joiners.
In his famous study “Bowling Alone,” Robert Putnam shows  that membership in civic organizations like the Kiwanis or Rotary declined by 58 percent between 1975 and 2000.
There are multiple causes.
...Although I am not sure that I can fully explain the causes of Millennial loneliness, I am certain that the rise of divorce plays an important role.
...Their parents’ divorce probably destroyed whatever social network they had.
My parents provided me with good role models.
I am afraid that many 20 somethings never learned any of this.
Not only are they lonely.
They don’t know what to do about it."

Google staffers are in revolt, demanding the removal of Heritage Foundation president Kay Coles James from an advisory board the company convened on artificial intelligence. A petition with more than 2,000 signatories from within the company was published on Medium on Monday, with the title “Googlers Against Transphobia and Hate.”
The petition’s signers described the appointment of Coles, a black grandmother, as a “weaponization of the language of diversity.”

Child Brides in Africa Are Advertised on Facebook and Sold to Old Men:
  • In one Nigerian community, illiterate fathers have learned from their sons that Facebook is a good way to let buyers know their daughters are for sale.
OBANLIKU, Nigeria—Monica, 16, is one of two sisters sold as wives to men who found their photographs on their father's Facebook page and contacted him.
She and her 14-year-old younger sister...fell victims to a culture which subjects little girls, some as young as 10, to de facto slavery through a tradition called “money marriage.”
Like hundreds, or perhaps thousands, of girls from the Becheve clan who are victims of money marriages, Monica and her sister were sold without their consent.
Their father wanted to clear the debt he owed to a distant relative.
“My father knew nothing about Facebook until my elder brother bought him a smartphone and convinced him to join Facebook and post our photographs whenever he likes,” Monica told The Daily Beast.
...In effect, they use Facebook, quite literally, as a face book..."

Worst than anyone can imagine!-----Ohio Could Become the Next State to Hand Its Electoral Votes Over to California and New York | Trending

Ohio Could Become the Next State to Hand Its Electoral Votes Over to California and New York | Trending:
"Ohio could decide to hand its votes in presidential elections over to the Democratic Party if a proposed ballot measure passes in November.
If approved, the proposed constitutional amendment would award Ohio's electoral votes to the candidate who wins the national popular vote.
The language of the ballot measure would enshrine the following in the state's constitution.
See the source image"It is the expressed will of the People that every vote for President be valued equally and that the candidate who wins the most votes nationally becomes President.
Therefore, the General Assembly shall within sixty days of the adoption of this amendment take all necessary legislative action so that the winner of the national popular vote is elected President."
In other words, Ohio would let states like California and New York essentially have veto power over the will of the state's voters in presidential elections — diluting the influence of rural and conservative voters in favor of the coastal elites in populous states that vote overwhelmingly for Democrats.
Supporters, of course, would never frame it that way, but that is in essence what would happen if the national popular vote were used to decide how Ohio's electoral votes are allocated.
It's a sneaky way to subvert the Electoral College without the messy work of amending the U.S. Constitution."

Amazing.
It's the kind of success most of us expected would happen with brilliant minds harnessing technology.
Why are we still filling (or mostly not filling) potholes with shovels operated by overpaid, underworked political appointees?

Simply disgusting!

Chicago’s police union and a group of suburban chiefs demanded Thursday that Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx resign after prosecutors dropped charges against actor and alleged hate crime hoax perpetrator Jussie Smollett.
Duane Mellema, head of the North Suburban Association of Chiefs of Police, said the chiefs voted unanimously to declare they had “no confidence” in Foxx, reported The Chicago Sun-Times. His organization represents more than 30 departments.

Sure, there was corruption involved, but there was also a public good derived from it.
The new corruption is just payoffs, because our new elites can’t be bothered to mask their bad habits with public displays of worthiness.

Al Sharpton Enjoying his Role as Democratic Kingmaker

Al Sharpton Enjoying his Role as Democratic Kingmaker
"Democrats running for president in 2020 swarmed New York City this week to speak at a convention hosted by Al Sharpton's National Action Network.
Sharpton denies his kingmaker role, telling reporters, “Don’t let them say you came here to kiss the ring, ‘cause I don’t wear a ring."
That may be true.
In fact, Sharpton is more like a mob boss, demanding fealty and tribute from his capo underlings.
More to the point, the Democratic candidates speaking before the NAN activists tried to out-radical each other.
Several offered mea culpas for past racial indiscretions.
South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg apologized for using the phrase "all lives matter," claiming he didn't understand the "context" in which the phrase was used..."

The Justice Department explained why it did not release summaries included in special counsel Robert Mueller’s report after reports surfaced that his investigators felt Attorney General Bill Barr mischaracterized their findings.
“Every page of the ‘confidential report’ provided to Attorney General Barr on March 22, 2019, was marked ‘May Contain Material Protected Under Fed. R. Crim. P. 6(e)’ — a law that protects confidential grand jury information — and therefore could not be publicly released,” Justice Department spokeswoman Kerri Kupec said in a statement to The Daily Caller.

Never Grow Up! Socialism as Adult Temper Tantrum | Global Liberty Media - The Counter Narrative

Never Grow Up! Socialism as Adult Temper Tantrum | Global Liberty Media - The Counter Narrative
"When you are a toddler, all you have to do is point.
Then your mother or father reach over, grab the object you are pointing at, and give it to you.
If you point at a food item, one of them will put it into your mouth.
The spoonful of pudding comes right at your mouth, you open up, and voila!
You have a mouthful of delicious pudding.
You live in a world of near-instant gratification.
As you grow older, you learn to annoy your parents by asking Why?
How?
Where?
What?
When?
...The child psychologist Piaget noticed that young children begin to think they cause things to happen.
This is logical, since this is what happens to toddlers every day.
You want it?
You got it!
Piaget wrote that children can believe that waving their hands causes the wind.
He called this “magical thinking.”
He argued that this comes from experiencing yourself as the center of the universe.
Of course, from a baby’s point of view, he IS the center of his universe.
All things come to baby.
In the normal course of growing up, you learn that you are not the center of the universe.
You no longer get everything you want immediately.
Then you get frustrated and demand to be the center of the universe again.
How?
With a temper tantrum.
...Socialist thinking is toddler magical thinking.
Socialist thinking is ‘never grow up’ thinking.
Socialist thinking is ‘I’m the center of the universe’ thinking.
Of course, this is cleverly disguised as ‘I only want Socialism so that poor people can get free stuff! Social Justice!’
How?
Magic!..."

...Within the first few weeks of the course, students were required to present a list of things that sexually arouse them.

...Topics covered through the semester include pornography, masturbation, arousal, sexual orientation and “comparing animal sexual behavior to human sexual behavior,” according to the syllabus, a copy of which was obtained by The College Fix.
Carter also allegedly instructed students to draw themselves naked..."

Where were the protests during Obama's years?

Where were the protests during Obama's years?:

Image result for flickr commons images obamaSomehow, Democrats support states’ rights when sanctuary cities and states willingly ignore laws Congress passed, but do not believe in states’ rights when a state like North Carolina passes a law to go against a dictatorial edict.
President Obama and other Democrats talked tough on illegal immigration, called the situation at the border a crisis, passed laws funding border barriers, separated children from parents at the border -- and journalists and immigration groups rarely protested. Obama and other Democrats were not repeatedly called racists and xenophobes.
Illegal aliens in custody also died at the same rate during Obama’s eight years as during Trump’s first two years -- and there was no outcry or protests. The media did not blame Obama for the deaths.
Therefore, it is obvious that the attacks on Trump are purely political.

  • Hillsdale’s Gary Wolfram says it’s unjust for government to redistribute income from regular people to charities
Forced charity is not charity, even when it’s done by the federal government.
That’s the view of a Hillsdale College economics professor weighing in on a Trump administration decision (since rescinded) to cut federal payments to the nonprofit governing body of Special Olympics.
...Wolfram added: “I suspect that few Americans would recognize that taking from some folks through taxes to give to the Special Olympics is not charity.
Nor has our public school system taught people about how charity fulfilled the needs of the indigent prior to the New Deal and the Great Society.”...

BookGate expands. Another $100K in Baltimore Mayor's pockets

BookGate expands. Another $100K in Baltimore Mayor's pockets
"Another day, another rock kicked over, and another pile of apparent corruption is unearthed in Baltimore, Maryland.
This time, a prominent businessman in Charm City has just now “remembered” that he donated $100,000 to then-mayoral candidate Catherine Pugh’s Healthy Holly book company in 2016.
In exchange for this, he received one copy of the book. (Baltimore Sun)
Columbia businessman J.P. Grant on Wednesday said his company cut a check for $100,000 to then-Baltimore mayoral nominee Catherine Pugh’s Healthy Holly LLC in October 2016. He said he received a copy of one book but no documentation of how his money would be used…
Grant described the payment in an interview, saying, “I want to be honest.”
Grant said he had forgotten about the arrangement until Friday, when he had an assistant check the records of the financial company he runs, Grant Capital Management. He said he subsequently recalled meeting with Pugh and agreeing to pay $100,000 to support what she had described as an effort to distribute the books to schoolchildren.
That means we’re now at a total of $800K going into the Mayor’s book company.
How much longer until we reach the one million mark?
It’s too soon to say..."
