The Route to Escaping Extreme Poverty Is Through Economic Freedom
Besides sharing a history of rapid and sustained economic growth, the 18 outperforming countries tend to have one other thing in common: They have expanded their degree of economic freedom far more, on average, than the 53 countries defined by the report as “middlers” and “underperformers.”
The intolerant Left thirsts for blood
The intolerant Left thirsts for blood"The Left has won the culture war, and now it's exiling anyone with sympathy for the losing side. Two recent incidents evince a growing trend to try to ban any view on gender or sexuality from public life that is to the Right of the American Civil Liberties Union.
- The Federalist Society at Yale Law School recently incurred the wrath of students because it invited Kristen Waggoner to speak. Waggoner is a renowned attorney at a public-interest law firm who was part of a successful Supreme Court case. Why would a speaking invitation to a successful female attorney trigger the Yale lefties? Their outrage was stoked because the case Waggoner won was Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, in which her employer, Alliance Defending Freedom, successfully protected Jack Phillips’ freedom of conscience. Phillips wouldn’t create a cake celebrating a same-sex wedding. Working for ADF made Waggoner unfit to speak at Yale, the students argued.
- Shortly after this, halfway across the country, the San Antonio City Council approved an expansion of the airport on the condition the airport exclude a Chick-fil-A that was in the original plan. The reason is that Chick-fil-A is deemed guilty of “anti-LGBTQ behavior” because its owners view marriage in the same way it has been viewed for all but the last few of the past few thousand years: as an exclusively heterosexual institution.
These episodes demonstrate the illiberalism and intolerance of the Left, which is now willing to use governmental and institutional power to smash those who don’t agree with it on sexual morality..."

Reparations? Please! | Power Line
Reparations? Please! | Power Line"The Democratic presidential candidates are parading in front of Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, and the topic of the day is reparations:
Beto O’Rourke had just finished speaking about racial injustice to the National Action Network when the Rev. Al Sharpton, its president, pushed him to say a little more.
...By Friday afternoon, nearly every Democrat who has declared a presidential bid...they endorsed some form of reparations.
...But if reparations doesn’t mean that all descendants of (American) slaves get cash from the government, courtesy of the rest of us, it doesn’t mean anything.
...Reparations would be an outrageous injustice, as pretty much everyone who won’t be cashing a check recognizes.
Which leaves one wondering, whatever are the Democrats thinking?
Which leaves one wondering, whatever are the Democrats thinking?
Is Al Sharpton–a notorious extortionist, perpetrator of fraud, and anti-Semite who is complicit in murder–so powerful in the party that presidential candidates are forced to walk the plank by supporting an issue that will be a millstone around the neck of the eventual nominee?
Or do they assume that after getting the nomination, the Democratic candidate will be able to tack furiously toward the center, with the collusion of the press, so that reparations never get mentioned after the Democratic convention?
I don’t know what they are thinking.
I don’t know what they are thinking.
All I know is, the more the Democrats talk about reparations, the better."

Mueller Russia Hoax: Keep Yer Eye On The Ball | The American Spectator
"...Specifically, in this case, Andrew is right to ask the question, “How long has Mueller known there is no collusion?”
That is the question.
Imagine being accused of treason and the exonerating information has been known for two years, maybe more, and has been sat on by the District Attorney investigating so that he could investigate and harass friends to 1) mollify the slobbering mobs to show that at least there are some heads on pikes and 2) to settle some scores for the cops and other dirty AG’s and 3) to take the spotlight off of the evil done to bring the spurious charges.
It’s my view that Mueller sat on the exoneration for all three reasons.
Why do I believe this?
...The Democrats, after two years, are still in the Rage Stage of Kubler-Ross’s stages of grief.
It’s like anger, but more violent.
They cannot let it go.
Robert Mueller knows this.
A bone can’t be thrown to these people.
There has to be some meat..."

Reps. Steve Scalise and Ann Wagner: Critical abortion bill needs only a little Dem support for a House vote | Fox News
Reps. Steve Scalise and Ann Wagner: Critical abortion bill needs only a little Dem support for a House vote | Fox News:
The Born Alive Act is not only common sense, it has strong bipartisan support among voters: 86 percent of Republicans, 70 percent of Democrats, and 75 percent of independents support this legislation. The effort to protect newborns transcends the abortion debate. No matter how you feel about abortion, we should be able to agree that when a baby is born alive and outside the womb, we should do everything in our power to keep it alive. We cannot discriminate between children who are wanted and children who are unwanted; all newborns deserve the opportunity to lead a long, happy life.

Increasing Electricity System Fragility in the UK | Watts Up With That?
"The UK’s electricity network is likely to become significantly weaker within five years... and also make it more likely that asynchronous sources of electricity such as wind, solar and High Voltage Direct Current interconnectors will disconnect during a fault.
Ironically, Short Circuit Levels are falling because of a rising input from asynchronous sources.
A remedy for this problem is unlikely to be cheap.
Who will pay?
...The strength of the system must be continually monitored to ensure that it will be stable under stress, a precaution that would be necessary at any time, but has particular relevance in the UK at present due to the rapid and dramatic changes in the electricity supply industry being driven by climate change policy...

Imagine if a "connected" republican had done this?-----Former Sen. Hassan Aide Stole Gigabytes Of ‘High Value’ Data | The Daily Caller
"A former IT aide to New Hampshire Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan mounted an “extraordinarily extensive data-theft scheme” against the office, the culprit’s plea agreement states.
...The theft occurred after Cosko was fired from Hassan’s office in May 2018 for undisclosed reasons, then hired by Democratic Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, giving him access to the House computer network.
...In October 2018, he used information stolen from Hassan’s office to doxx Republican Utah Sens. Orrin Hatch and Mike Lee as well as Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham.

The High School Kids from Kansas Who Found the Female Schindler | Intellectual Takeout"...Kansas students to achieve acclaim for uncovering a story that the rest of the world missed.
That honor goes to a handful of girls from Uniontown High School who introduced the world to Irena Sendler, the female version of Oskar Schindler, of Schindler’s List fame.
According to a mini-documentary produced by the Kansas State University College of Education, Irena Sendler was a Polish nurse who worked in the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II.
Through her work in the Polish Resistance, she saved 2,500 Jewish children from the hands of the Nazis.
She was eventually caught, tried, and sentenced to death for her efforts, but managed to escape due to a bribed executioner.
Following the war, she used carefully preserved records to return the children she had rescued to their surviving relatives.
As student Megan Felt explains, Sendler’s name intrigued the girls in her history project group.
Yet despite extensive searching, they were unable to find out much about her, due to Communist suppression of the story after the war.
Perseverance and extensive research finally led them to the discovery that Sendler was still alive and living in Poland..."

Rush Limbaugh: Why was Mueller investigation launched? - WND
Rush Limbaugh: Why was Mueller investigation launched? - WND:
Talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh noted Thursday that Democrats are insisting Attorney General William Barr is covering up derogatory information about Trump.
He pointed to Simon’s column, which reasons that “40 FBI agents, 19 anti-Trump, pro-Hillary lawyers, $30 million produce 400 pages alleging no collusion and no obstruction.”
“The next obvious question, what the hell was this, then? Why was this done? Why was this investigation launched? Who did that, why, and when? You mean, after 40 FBI agents, over two years, $30 million, 19 Hillary-loving lawyers on Mueller’s team, and nothing?” said Limbaugh.
“So his point is the obvious question’s gonna be, why the hell did this happen? And that means that people are gonna demand to know why it happened, which will then facilitate and launch an investigation to answer those questions.
“He believes that to get to the bottom of this, which people are then gonna demand, we’re gonna have to go to the Obama administration,” Limbaugh said.
