The technology is (almost) here for a roadside breathalyzer test to check whether drivers are high on the drug, according to a report in the Sacramento Bee. It would be a revolutionary advance for law enforcement, since officers currently lack any reliable scientific method for doing so.
One of the companies pushing the technology forward is Hound Labs in Oakland, California. Research distributed via the Hound Foundation, created by company CEO Mike Lynn to promote awareness of marijuana-impaired driving, indicates the drug is five times more potent now than 50 years ago, and the odds of an auto accident triple after a driver smokes it.
With 15 million Americans annually getting “behind the wheel of a car within an hour after using marijuana,” the accident risk is a pressing public safety concern.

...Given that it is demonstrably ineffective, it deserves, perhaps more than any state-run program, to be zeroed out.
...Skeptical of state assertions, the Mackinac Center did its own study.

Its scholars collected 39 years of publicly available data from 48 states and created a statistical model designed to isolate the effects of state tourism promotion on the economy.

We found some, but overall, it was a huge net negative.
For every $1 million increase in state tourism promotion spending, there was a corresponding increase in economic activity of just $20,000 in the accommodations (hotels, motels, etc.) industry. No, that’s not a typo.

In other words, for every $98 in program spending, everyone in this sector shared an increase of just two dollars — and other sectors of the tourism industry did worse.

There was no impact at all in the recreation and amusement sector and only a tiny one on incomes for the arts and entertainment sector. Studies done by others also question the efficacy of state-funded tourism programs.
It’s bad enough that the program wastes money.

Even worse, Pure Michigan is fundamentally unfair.

It takes money from lots of people and industries and gives it to the state government in the hope it will directly benefit a few..."

Take, for instance, the good people of Sweden.
The country leans so heavily left that it’s fallen over into the muck of its own making.
It’s welcomed in refugees from the middle east, and as a result, has seen a spiking crime and rape epidemic that nabbed it the title of “rape capital of the west.”

Instead of helping the people of its country, the Swedish government went about covering up its rape statistics.

...Recently, a small group set out to get the reactions of Swedes when asked if they would be willing to take refugees in themselves. Every person in the video answered they would.

They were likely feeling pretty proud of themselves as they answered the question, but then the video makers suddenly put their convictions to the test as the Swedes were then presented with a migrant they could take in. A grown man named “Ali,” who needed a place to live.

Naturally, the people who were so welcoming just moments ago began desperately searching any excuse in the book to not have to take in the migrant and all their talk about helping those in need looked oh so foolish.

It makes you wonder what kind of society we’d be living in if people were just more honest with themselves and others about their beliefs...

But this simple video just unveiled the truth about virtue signaling.
It’s many people creating problems for others that they themselves wouldn’t take on.
This video may have taken place in Sweden, but it’s a principle that applies to everyone."

And, as Canton’s residents are discovering, the worst of the bunch might just be Courtney Rainey. Courtney Rainey—Canton’s director of human and cultural needs, school board member, and (ironically) judicial candidate—was convicted and sentenced Sept. 23 to 15 years in prison on charges of witness intimidation after she tried to stymie the criminal investigation into her earlier efforts at voter fraud. While many were given the opportunity to enter pretrial diversion programs or step down from their offices, Rainey was not given the same leniency in her sentence—and for good reason.
