Election officials call Detroit's primary voting problems 'alarming'
"Lansing — All four members of the State Board of Canvassers on Friday blasted problems with counting ballots in Detroit's primary election as "alarming" and "concerning," and one asked whether Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson should intervene this fall.
"I think we need an investigation with a conclusion that somebody else is going to run that election or not," said Norm Shinkle, one of two Republicans on the board that's in charge of certifying statewide election results.
The criticism came a day after The Detroit News reported Wayne County election data that showed 72% of the absentee voting precincts in Michigan's largest city had ballot counts that were out of balance by at least one vote for the Aug. 4. primary...Read all.

"...Less than two weeks after John filled out his survey, the Oak Creek-Franklin School Board held an emergency meeting and decided to ignore the overwhelming preference of the district’s parents and begin the new school year with virtual learning.
...The Oak Creek-Franklin School District (OCFSD) had a plan ready, though.
Four days after the school board closed schools, parents received an email with good news: Their elementary and middle school-aged children could attend what the District calls a “School Day Camp.”
It would offer full childcare and lunch services…in the schools.
...Even though it is far too dangerous to reopen schools for in-person learning, reopening schools for Summer Day Camp is apparently totally safe.
Adding insult to insanity, the District is charging parents $100 per student per week for the privilege of returning to this sort-of school...Read all.

William Barr Targets ‘Revolving-Door-Justice’: Simple Fix Could Cut Violent Crime in Half
William Barr Targets ‘Revolving-Door-Justice’: Simple Fix Could Cut Violent Crime in Half:

U.S. Attorney General William Barr on Wednesday pinned rising crime in the United States on what he referred to as “revolving-door justice,” affirming that violence would be greatly reduced if only a few hundred felons were removed from the streets.
“One of the problems we have in the criminal justice system now is revolving-door justice,” Barr stated during a Kansas City, Missouri, press conference on the Trump administration’s anti-violence initiative Operation Legend. “And I think too many criminals— to tell you the truth, during my exposure to the law enforcement community, which goes back over 30 years, there’s one constant, which is that the police do their job.”
