I spent some time last week out and about and had the opportunity to engage with some friends and friends of friends (probably a dozen or so), the majority of whom support the IDEA of BLM.
I asked how they reconciled the idea that the very basis of America was racist, that they are parts of the supposed systems claimed to be racist, and yet, they don't see themselves as racist.
Most common answer?

But, I replied, if an entire system is racist, that means every element of that system must also be racist - or the system isn't "systemically" racist.
