Top Whitmer aide takes spring break trip to Florida - TheBlaze

A top aide of Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer took a spring break trip to Florida with family. Only days earlier, the Democratic governor of Michigan warned her constituents about travel because of concerns of spreading COVID-19. Tricia Foster, Whitmer's chief operating officer, posted photos on Facebook of her family vacationing in Siesta Key, a popular beach tourist destination on the Gulf of Mexico about an hour south of Tampa.

How Will the Pentagon Define 'Extremism'?

How Will the Pentagon Define 'Extremism'?
"Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is determined to root out “extremism” from the ranks of the military. He has just concluded a 60-day series of “listening sessions” dealing with the question of how he should go about the task of cleansing the armed forces of bad thoughts and is now ready to begin implementing programs and policies to that end.
But Austin has a huge problem
He has to be able to define “extremism” in such a way as to safeguard our constitutional liberties while rooting out the skinheads, the Klan members, the gangbangers, and violent revolutionaries that make up a small but significant fraction of the armed forces.
  • What is “extremism”?
  • What is “extremist ideology”?
  • Who can be considered “an extremist”?
  • Is there any definition of “extremism” that isn’t subjective?
  • What criteria will be used to determine who is “extreme”?

List: Georgia among 'easiest' states to vote in, better than Delaware and New York | Washington Examiner
"A new nonpartisan evaluation of 2022 election laws has named Georgia as one of the easiest states to vote early in, a repudiation of attacks from baseball, corporate America, and others that criticized new state reforms under pressure from liberals, including President Joe Biden.
While critics have called recent reforms in the state “racist” and an effort to limit minority voting, the Center for Election Innovation and Research found that Georgia is among the 36 states with the easiest rules.
The center put Georgia in the “green” category, which it explained are states that offer “all-mail or no-excuse absentee and in-person early voting.”
...Asked if it included the Georgia changes, David Becker, the former Pew Research Center executive who founded the Center for Election Innovation and Research, told Secrets, “Yes, it does...Read all.

Border 'Spiraling Out of Control,' Say U.S. Reps

During a brief post-tour press conference, the overall message delivered by the delegation — they were on the border to listen primarily, and to look for solutions to the problems along the border. Congressman Gonzales stated the need for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to visit and experience what they have seen and heard from the law enforcement personnel participating in the discussion.

Congressman Gonzales’ remarked, “When you have folks that are career law enforcement with over 35 years of experience that are seeing spikes they have never seen before, and you hear that over and over, things are spiraling out of control at a record pace, that’s the biggest takeaway.”

South African variant may evade protection from Pfizer vaccine, Israeli study says
JERUSALEM, April 10 (Reuters) - The coronavirus variant discovered in South Africa may evade the protection provided by Pfizer/BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine to some extent, a real-world data study in Israel found, though its prevalence in the country is very low and the research has not been peer reviewed.
The study, released on Saturday, compared almost 400 people who had tested positive for COVID-19, 14 days or more after they received one or two doses of the vaccine, against the same number of unvaccinated patients with the disease...Read all.

Why Biden Is Breaking America

Why Biden Is Breaking America

"How long has it been since January 20?

A bit under three months. Frankly, it feels like a lifetime, when it comes to all the things that Joe Biden has been able to screw up in such a short period of time.

  • ...Biden created a crisis at the border after President Donald Trump had fixed it through almost sheer force of will, despite Democrats trying to check him at every turn...It’s also costing us $60 million a week...
  • Goodwin also said Biden seems set on undoing the the Arab-Israeli alliance, noting Biden restored hundreds of millions of dollars in annual subsidies to the Palestinians that Trump canceled.
  • Then there’s the Senate filibuster and the Democrats’ desire to pack the Supreme Court. Goodwin recalls how Biden has previously defended the filibuster that he now calls “Jim Crow.”...Read all.

Capitol Police investigate podcaster for AOC Twitter threat - TheBlaze

Two police officers allegedly paid a visit to the home of a podcaster in California because of a threat that was posted on Twitter against Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). However, the podcaster didn't make the threat toward AOC. Instead, it was reportedly another Twitter user who replied to the podcaster's original tweet where he benignly said the Democratic representative was "incredibly underwhelming" in an interview.

You know it's true. Always has been.

Coronavirus pandemic exacerbates inequalities for women, UN warns | Coronavirus | The Guardia
  • ‘Limited gains made in the past decades’ toward gender equality ‘are at risk of being rolled back’, UN policy brief said
"A global economy in freefall, 1.52 billion students stuck at home, dramatic swells in domestic violence reports and healthcare systems overwhelmed by a single disease all portend vicious side-effects for women during the Covid-19 pandemic, the United Nations warns.
“There is no single society where we’ve achieved equality between men and women, and so this pandemic is being layered on top of existing inequalities, and it’s exacerbating those inequalities,” Nahla Valji, the UN’s senior gender adviser to the executive office of the secretary general, told the Guardian.
The current public health emergency will probably mean a disproportionate economic impact for women...Read all.

Wow, government housing! What an innovative idea!-----Biden’s Infrastructure Bill Includes Making ‘Diverse’ Neighborhoods Across America Through Zoning Laws

Biden’s Infrastructure Bill Includes Making ‘Diverse’ Neighborhoods Across America Through Zoning Laws

"The focus of  President Joe Biden’s $2.3 trillion infrastructure bill is allegedly to address aging infrastructure across the country, but the massive bill covers a vast amount of other spending, including money for “diversifying” neighborhoods.

This portion of Biden’s American Jobs Plan would change zoning laws to end single family home neighborhoods and allow for multiple unit “affordable” or low-income rental housing....

...In contrast to former President Donald Trump’s Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Opportunity Zones program that partnered the federal government with private sector investors to create less rental housing and increase home ownership, Biden’s plan uses tax breaks for state and local governments, the Fact Sheet states:

“[Biden] is calling on Congress to pass the innovative, bipartisan Neighborhood Homes Investment Act (NHIA). Offering $20 billion worth of NHIA tax credits over the next five years will result in approximately 500,000 homes built or rehabilitated, creating a pathway for more families to buy a home and start building wealth.”

Reuters reported on the shift from free markets to government control:

President Joe Biden is seeking to ease a national affordable housing shortage by pushing local governments to allow apartment buildings in neighborhoods that are currently restricted to single-family homes...

Biden’s plan even designates which workers will benefit from this housing project — “put union building trade workers to work upgrading homes and businesses to save families money,” the Fact Sheet states...Read all.

BLACK BBC GUEST SUGGESTS ALL REPUBLICANS, ALL WHITE MALES ARE AUTOMATICALLY RACIST.

Instapundit--

BLACK BBC GUEST SUGGESTS ALL REPUBLICANS, ALL WHITE MALES ARE AUTOMATICALLY RACIST.

A Black woman who went on BBC as a guest opposite Eric Bolling, the former Fox News and Sinclair Broadcasting Group host — and a White male — basically said that if you’re Republican, you’re racist; if you’re a White male, and profess to care about the Black community, you’re a liar.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democrats in America. They throw the race card wherever, whenever, at whomever they can, without care, concern or consideration for how wrong, how very wrong, they are — or how stupid it makes them sound.

Can’t make a logical argument? Accuse the other side of being racist. Can’t defend your view with facts? Label your verbal sparring opponent a racist.

...UPDATE (FROM GLENN): If you’d like to complain about this openly broadcast racial hatred, the BBC has a form for that.--Posted by

Florida Reports Fewer Coronavirus Cases Per Capita Than NY, PA, MI

Florida, which has no mask mandate in place, has reported 176.3 cases per 100,000 in the last seven days, or 37,859 cases, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) April 9 data.

Nat'l Guard Association Chair: Up to 50 Migrants a Day Being Released into Communities with Less Than 1,000 People in Them

On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “Evening Edit,” National Guard Association Chairman Michael McGuire said that due to crowding in migrant facilities, Customs and Border Protection are releasing “up to 50 personnel per day” into communities “that have less than a thousand people in them. And that creates a humanitarian and a public health crisis for these very, very rural and under-resourced communities.”
