Texas House passes 'constitutional carry' bill that would allow residents to carry a gun without a license - TheBlaze:
The Texas House of Representatives on Thursday gave initial approval to a "constitutional carry" bill that would allow for handguns to be carried, either openly or concealed, without a permit, the Texas Tribune reported.
The bill — which would nix current state requirements that residents obtain a license in order to carry a handgun — was approved by the House in an 84-56 vote, with nearly all of the chamber's Republicans and seven Democrats voting in favor. The legislation will now move on to the state Senate.

Deputies and detectives arrived at the Somers House Tavern at approximately 12:42 a.m. to find the victims, two of whom have since been transported to local hospitals.
"Three people were killed and two were injured after a shooting in a Kenosha, Wisconsin, tavern on Sunday, law enforcement said.
The suspect, who has yet to be identified, was asked to leave the bar, but he returned and opened fire. Gunfire erupted both inside and outside of the establishment.
Authorities have asked for the public's help in identifying the perpetrator, who is described as a 6-foot-tall black man wearing a sweatshirt.
He has yet to be apprehended, and was wielding at least one handgun at the time of the incident.

A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found an alarming jump in the number of drug overdose deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data from the CDC shows that drug overdose deaths in the U.S. increased by nearly 29% during the pandemic.
