The way we were-----The U.S. Coast Guard in the Great War: USCGC Tampa

"While there are many compelling stories of the efforts to protect commerce from the dreaded U-boats during the Great War, the contribution of the United States Coast Guard, only newly created in 1915 and serving under the operational control of the Navy during war, is an even more overlooked part of the conflict.
Yet the Coasties served, and died, in the Battle of the Atlantic.
On September 26, 1918, the United States suffered its greatest naval combat loss of the First World War."

Unintended Consequences: What the Surfside Condo Collapse Means to Agents and Underwriters, Plus Some Lessons Learned | Insurance Commentary with Bill Wilson
"Last week, I blogged about some of the initial commercial property insurance issues involving the Surfside, Florida condo collapse.
Below are a few more observations regarding D&O, E&O, and homeowners insurance claim issues.
However, an email I received from a Tennessee agent last Friday represents a development I think is going to dramatically impact agents and underwriters on a daily basis.
So, I’d like to address that first.
  • The agent for an HoA received a request/demand from a condo unit owner’s lender for information on the association’s insurance program. The lender wanted detailed information on policy coverages such as the property deductible amount, Ordinance Or Law coverage, how the replacement cost limit was calculated, separation of insureds/severability of interest clause, proof and details of liability coverage, etc...Read all.

To Advance The Climate Agenda, Never Let Bad Weather Go To Waste - Climate Change Dispatch
"Bad weather is wreaking havoc in parts of the world.
The cynical climate alarmist community hopes it will help get Joe Biden’s multi-trillion-dollar climate agenda through Congress.
“Amid summer of fire and floods, a moment of truth for climate action,” editorialized the Washington Post.
So let’s look at the “summer of fires and floods.
Yes, it has been very hot in the Pacific Northwest.
Is this global warming, as alarmists want you to believe, or just weather?
  • The temperature reality is that there is no trend from 1911-2020 in very hot (i.e., 99F+) days in the Pacific Northwest. That’s according to Cliff Mass, a professor of atmospheric sciences at the University of Washington and no one’s idea of a “climate denier.”
  • It’s out-of-control wildfire season again, which is being fueled by the ongoing drought. Climate alarmists, of course, expect the public to believe that the drought is caused by global warming. But the natural history of the West over the past 1,100 years shows that megadroughts lasting as long as 200 years are the norm rather than the exception...Read all!

Witnesses said that they weren't surprised at the brazen shoplifting due to the seemingly unending torrent of retail thefts taking place across the city. "This sort of thing is becoming so normal," one witness told Lee, according to Fox News. A variety of similar incidents have taken place across the city and state over the last several months, including thefts from drug stores, clothing retailers, and more.

Ya think this is a good long-term plan? (note the $18 trillion debt is only a few years ago. $30+ trillion today!)

Oh My, Something About That New York Times Journalist Who Recently Called Trump Supporters "Enemies of The State" - The Last Refuge

"Katie Benner sounds like an American girl next door right?  Alas, a little digging below the surface reveals something rather specific about the New York Times journalist.

Ms. Katie Benner made headlines yesterday by tweeting: “Today’s #January6thSelectCommittee underscores the America’s current, essential natsec dilemma: Work to combat legitimate national security threats now entails calling a politician’s supporters enemies of the state,” the previously little-known Benner wrote.

...As it turns out, Ms. Benner is not quite what she appears…. not even close.

Katie Benner (pictured left) used to write freelance for the Beijing Review, China’s only National news magazine in English, published by the Chinese Communist Party-owned China International Publishing Group.

Benner joined the New York Times in 2015 after her initial work at the communist propaganda outlet. {NYT CITATION}

NEW YORK TIMES – […] “Katie Benner of Bloomberg joining The Times as a technology reporter.  She’s covered Wall Street and Silicon Valley. She’s been a magazine writer and a columnist. Early in her career she wrote for Beijing Review, and since last fall, she has been based in San Francisco for Bloomberg View. (2015, link)

Redefining "racist indoctrination"-----Equity in schools and voter suppression are top concerns for Michigan’s new civil rights director

Equity in schools and voter suppression are top concerns for Michigan’s new civil rights director
".....“We’re in a position where, unfortunately, there’s divisive tactics being used,” Johnson said in an interview.
...Take the debate over critical race theory -- a college-level academic concept that studies how racism historically shaped public policy in the United States
Recent efforts by school districts to create implicit bias training and address inequity are facing intense criticism from parents who contend the work amounts to critical race theory in disguise.
“(CRT) is not being taught at the elementary school level, it’s being taught at the graduate level,” Johnson said.
“To imply it’s reaching down that far is, I think, just a scare tactic.”...Much here, read all.

Doctor Goes Off on New CDC Mask Guidance: 'Not Justifiable Whatsoever,' Will 'Backfire Big' by Guy Benson
As for the exit strategy point, many Americans fear that there isn't one, and that open-ended control over their lives is the point -- whether explicit or subconscious on the part of the Powers That Be. The CDC's latest round of decisions reinforces this cynical view, and does to needlessly.

Delaware US Attorney Blocked Hunter Biden Warrants and Subpoenas in Order to Protect the Joe Biden 2020 Election Effort - The Last Refuge

"Baselines are always important when reviewing information; I cannot stress this enough.  When the corrupt instititional officials within the DOJ and FBI need to justify their corrupt activity, or get out in front of any exposure of their corrupt activity, they consistently run to two media outlets, The New York Times and Politico.  [State Dept use CNN, Intelligence Community use Washington Post]  This is the one constant you will notice in all reporting.

That is the baseline for Politico writing today about U.S. Attorney David Weiss intentionally burying information about an investigation of Hunter Biden in the summer and fall of 2020 in order to protect the candidacy of Joe Biden.  USAO Weiss of Delaware stopped the investigation of Hunter Biden, stopped issuing grand jury subpoenas, and stopped the issuance of search warrants in order to keep the public from knowing that Hunter Biden was under a criminal investigation.
