U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) recently spoke at a Minneapolis event discussing the fledgling Republic of Somaliland’s efforts to break away from greater Somalia. In the course of that speech, she assured her mostly Somali audience that she is “Somali first, Muslim second.” She also told them that they could “sleep in comfort knowing I am here to protect the interests of Somalia from inside the U.S. system.”

Murray’s own book was on the list.

A deranged Brooklyn man was caught on film last week hacking at NYPD officers with a machete. Although wounded in the attack, the officers nevertheless managed to subdue the suspect.
This bloodletting was apparently not enough to convince a New York City grand jury to hold 40-year-old Jean Blain accountable for his alleged actions. While willing to hit Blain with some lesser charges, the jury decided not to indict him with attempted murder.

Democratic politicians in Washington state recently proposed a measure to prohibit cities from using "hostile architecture" to deter homeless individuals from setting up encampments in public spaces, KIRO-TV reported Friday.
Senate Bill 6231, sponsored by four Democratic state senators, was introduced earlier this month and would prohibit "the use of hostile architecture elements for publicly accessible buildings or real property." If passed, the city would be banned from installing or constructing design elements meant to "restrict the use of any public space by people experiencing homelessness," the legislation stated.

Americans have lost trust in some of the most important roles in a society, including those in the medical industry, teaching, and especially positions of institutional power.
A Gallup poll in Honesty and Ethics conducted at the end of 2023 asked 800 respondents to rate the ethical standards of and their overall trust in a series of professions.
"How you would rate the honesty and ethical standards of people in these different fields?" the survey asked. In terms of "very high" trust, all professions but one took a hit compared to previous years.
The poll measured the downward trends dating back to 2019, showing that medical doctors, pharmacists, bankers, and journalists have lost the most trust.
