Two Teens Who Assaulted ‘Big Balls’ Given Probation; 'That's Stupid,' Says Trump - Brett T.

Two suspects were apprehended, and we're learning now, in October, that they've been freed on probation.
Back in August, it was an attack by a gang on DOGE's Ed "Big Balls" Coristine for defending a woman from a carjacking that moved President Donald Trump to call for federalizing the Washington, D.C., police force and sending in the National Guard to curb the violent crime.
Two suspects were apprehended, and we're learning now, in October, that they've been freed on probation.
  • "Rehabilitate, not punish." Restorative justice strikes again.

Beware Mamdani's Judges | RealClearPolitics

Beware Mamdani's Judges | RealClearPolitics -  Betsy McCaughey
What does it take to get locked up?
  • Two men allegedly stole a Dodge Charger muscle car and led cops on a wild chase through Harlem streets, driving up on sidewalks, endangering pedestrians and slamming into other vehicles. When the cops finally grabbed them, one of the men had a loaded, unlicensed pistol in his waistband. All of this was captured on video.
  • Here's the punchline. Hauled before a Bronx Criminal Court judge, the two men were back on the street within hours.
Former New York City Police Department Commissioner Ray Kelly says "the cops clearly risked their lives" and that the judge's decision "shows a total disregard for their bravery."
  • Too many of the city's lower-court judges are ideologically opposed to locking up alleged offenders before trial or requiring cash bail, even when the state's pro-criminal laws allow it.
  • Kelly fears the situation will worsen if Zohran Mamdani is elected mayor...

Trump says a very wealthy 'gentleman' offered to pay troops' wages through government shutdown | Blaze Media

"While Democrats have played politics with military pay to fight for illegal aliens, the US Coast Guard has been defending our maritime borders, stopping the flow of deadly narcotics and illegal immigration into our country, and countering America's adversaries around the world," she said in part.

Putin smiles!-----German conscription plan stalls after defense minister’s objections

Defense Minister Boris Pistorius intervened to halt a coalition deal that would have reintroduced limited military service by lottery. - POLITICO
BERLIN — Germany’s plan to bring back a form of conscription was derailed late Tuesday after last-minute objections from Defense Minister Boris Pistorius upended an agreement among the country’s governing parties, multiple people familiar with the matter told POLITICO...
The surprise development marks a sudden reversal for the coalition, which had planned to introduce the bill for debate in the Bundestag this week.
It now remains unclear when — or if — the government will move ahead with a revised version...

Chicago has no sovereign right to its own immigration policy

Chicago is a “sanctuary city” in which law officers are forbidden from cooperating with federal agencies to enforce immigration laws.  - Washington Examiner
This is all the more reason why National Guard troops may be necessary to carry out the democratic will for illegal immigrants to be deported.
President Donald Trump won the election in November partly because of the Democrats’ utter failure to enforce immigration law...
  • “There is no reason a president should send military troops into a sovereign state without their [sic] knowledge, consent, or cooperation,” Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL) said recently.
But, contrary to the governor’s assertion, Illinois is not a sovereign state.
  • If Trump believes local law enforcement policies endanger federal agents and that a National Guard presence would help protect them, he has the authority to deploy them, whether Pritzker likes it or not...
  • Federal law is clear that states have no sovereign right to set their own immigration policies.
When former President Barack Obama refused to enforce immigration laws, former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed a state law that made it a crime for illegal immigrants to be in Arizona without registering with the federal government.
  • The Supreme Court held that the policy violated the Constitution’s supremacy clause, which gives the federal government the highest authority over certain policy areas, including immigration...

Antifa deniers: Dan Goldman and the ghost of J. Edgar Hoover

Politicians and pundits are denying that the left-wing anarchist group exists. -  Jonathan Turley
Roughly seventy years ago, FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover famously declared, “There is no organized crime in America.”
  • Hoover’s stubborn denial of the existence of the mafia continued despite ample evidence to the contrary, from arrests to congressional testimony...
  • Many today seem to be adopting a Hoover-esque wilful blindness about another violent group: Antifa.
Politicians and pundits are denying that the left-wing anarchist group exists, mocking President Trump’s designation of Antifa as a terrorist organization.
  • Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) seemed to morph into Hoover before our very eyes, including a posting in which he challenged anyone to “name one member of ‘Antifa.'”
  • Former House Judiciary Chair Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) was widely ridiculed for denying the existence of Antifa.
  • Others on the left have joined Goldman in this absurd claim. Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel committed part of his monologue to assure viewers that Antifa is no more than a mythical “chupacabra.” “You understand there is no Antifa,” he said. “This is an entirely made-up organization.”...
By design, Antifa avoids typical leadership hierarchies and organizational structures.
Antifa was first created in the 1920s, associated with the Weimar-era German communist group Antifaschistische Aktion.
It is easy to satisfy Goldman’s demand in naming some members, since they self-identify as members of Antifa...

The Latest FBI Spying Makes Watergate Look Trivial

The FBI secretly monitored the phone records of eight sitting Republican senators in an abusive fishing expedition done with impunity - Hans Mahncke
In 1972, a small team of operatives connected to President Richard Nixon’s re-election campaign broke into the Democratic National Committee’s offices in the Watergate complex to install listening devices.
  • To this day, there is no conclusive evidence that Nixon personally ordered — or even knew of — the break-in beforehand.
Yet Watergate shaped American political consciousness for decades...
  • Fast forward 50 years, and what has come to light under the Biden administration dwarfs the clumsy efforts of Nixon’s campaign operatives...

Trump Meets Face-to-Face with Hostages and Their Families: 'Your Name Will Be Remembered to Generations'

Trump Meets Face-to-Face with Hostages and Their Families: 'Your Name Will Be Remembered to Generations'

As he met with families whose souls have been lined with worry and grief from the day their loved ones were taken to Gaza as hostage, President Donald Trump was told his role in their return would never be forgotten

Trump met with the families of those taken by Hamas at the Knesset prior to his address to Israel’s parliament. The speech and meeting came as the final 20 living hostages taken after Hamas massacred Israel civilians on Oct. 7, 2023, were released as part of a peace deal Trump helped broker.

Faced with rising antisemitism and a radical would-be mayor, New York’s Jewish artists confront a once unthinkable question: Is it time to flee?  - Yoni Weinberg
  • “New York has fallen! It’s over, I’m leaving.”
  • “Real New Yorkers stay and fight. You can’t just pick up and go.”
  • “It’s only going to get worse, not better.”
  • “I don’t need this negativity, things are bad enough already.”...
That weekend’s debate splintered the group in a way I’d never seen before.
The topic: Is New York still good for the Jews, or is it time to flee?...

America Is Sliding Toward Illiteracy

The past decade may rank as one of the worst in the history of American education.
It marks a stark reversal from what was once a hopeful story.
  • At the start of the century, American students registered steady improvement in math and reading. Around 2013, this progress began to stall out, and then to backslide dramatically.
  • What exactly went wrong?
The decline began well before the pandemic, so COVID-era disruptions alone cannot explain it...
  • Test scores from NAEP, short for the National Assessment of Educational Progress, released this year show that 33 percent of eighth graders are reading at a level that is “below basic”—meaning that they struggle to follow the order of events in a passage or to even summarize its main idea...
  • Among fourth graders, 40 percent are below basic in reading, the highest share since 2000.
  • In 2024, the average score on the ACT, a popular college-admissions standardized test that is graded on a scale of 1 to 36, was 19.4—the worst average performance since the test was redesigned in 1990...
