Ignorance Is Not Bliss: The Dumbing Down of America | The American Spectator | USA News and Politics

The bill for lowered standards is coming due. - Richard K. Vedder
The news is awash with reports that younger Americans are learning less than their parents did a generation ago.
  • One in eight freshmen at the highly selective University of California, San Diego campus place below high school levels in math, leading professors to complain that declining student proficiency is imperiling their ability to provide at least a modicum of math competency.
  • Grade inflation is also leading university students to study far less than their parents or grandparents did in college — for much higher grades.
Are we becoming a nation of lazy dumbbells?...

Regarding Energy, the Left Wants Us to Live Smaller Lives. Americans Don’t Do That.

A few years ago, my wife and I bought a new washer and dryer. - Gary Abernathy - The Empowerment Alliance
We were convinced by the salesperson to buy a set that promised
  • energy efficiency for the dryer
  • and, for the washer,
  • better cleaning
  • using less water.
You know what happened.
In the name of “efficiency,” our clothes, towels, blankets and other items came out barely damp and far from clean...
That’s why most Americans from coast to coast are likely celebrating the announcement from the U.S. Department of Energy last week that it intends to “permanently end home appliance and equipment mandates that raise costs and disrupt consumer choice, according to a press release.
  • “In America, you should be able to choose a dryer that dries clothes on the first try rather than one that takes multiple cycles – unfortunately, past administrations thought otherwise,” Energy Secretary Chris Wright said...
For too long, Americans have been treated like children, coerced into buying over-priced “energy efficient” appliances and technologies that don’t do the job, and shamed into adopting lifestyles that are uncomfortable and unnecessary.
  • The answer is not to make our lives smaller.
  • Americans have never thrived by embracing such a philosophy.
  • Instead, the solution is to make the most of the resources at our disposal.
  • Dream big.
  • Overcome challenges...

CNBC Proves Why Nobody Cares About Corporate Media Anymore | The American Spectator | USA News and Politics

I did want to pass along a take on that very large, steaming turd of a “study” laid down by CNBC, which claimed that Tennessee and Texas are the two worst states in America to live. - Scott McKay
The study itself is a big, fat nothing.
  • It claims that Tennessee is the worst state in America to live, followed by Texas, Indiana, Louisiana, and Georgia to round out the bottom five.
  • What are the top five states? Vermont, Maine, New Jersey, Minnesota, and Connecticut.
Here’s what CNBC’s article on the 10 worst states to live had to say about Tennessee…
