America's future?-----New student-run, free grocery store to address food insecurity in Muskegon - mlive.com

MUSKEGON, MI – Several community organizations are partnering with Muskegon Public Schools to launch a student-run grocery store, or food club, this fall. 
The Innovation Academies of Muskegon at Muskegon Community Education Center is partnering with the Muskegon County Food Club Collective and Lakeshore Food Club of Ludington to launch a student-run food club at MCEC, 1826 Hoyt St.

“What it came down to is the act of giving and how important that is for our young people,” said Lisabeth Smith, teacher at MCEC.

“It is dignity-based, choice-based,” said Jen Barangan, senior innovations strategist with Access Health. “It is a fantastic model that we really felt would be a strong fit to help address food insecurity here in the county.”...
