The Obama administration has awarded a $50 million contract to a charitable group to buy a Texas resort hotel and transform it in to a 600 bed facility for juvenile illegal aliens.
The beautiful Palm Aire resort and hotel has an indoor Olympic sized pool and an outdoor pool. Free Wi-Fi and cable TV are included in the simply decorated guest rooms.

While investigating the latest mishap, CDC Director Tom Frieden also discovered that a contagious strain of avian flu was unintentionally shipped to a lower security Department of Agriculture lab in March.
“What we’re seeing is a pattern that we missed, and the pattern is an insufficient culture of safety,” Frieden told a congressional panel on Wednesday. There may be more disclosures to come as the agency reviews its practices, he said.

Detroit is the first city in the state to move to an electronic application process, although up to three more cities are expected to announce similar plans between next week up through the primary election in August with "many more" before the general election, Johnson said.
In the past, Detroit only accepted absentee ballot applications via mail, fax and hand delivery.
Johnson cited the inability to obtain an authentic digital signature as the reason but says new technology makes it possible.
"We know we want to engage the least likely voter," Winfrey said. "For this election, it is the 18- to 35-year-old, and we know that the least likely voter has their cell phone attached to their hip so why not be able to use their smart phone to request an absentee ballot."
Winfrey, who ran an unsuccessful 2010 campaign as a Democrat to become Secretary of State, said the partnership has nothing to to with partisan politics.
"It could have been done with the Democratic Party, it could have been done with the Green Party, Libertarian, Republican Party, it doesn't matter," she said, "What matters is that we have the ability now to use our smart phones to access voter information as well as request an absentee ballot."

By 2024, says the CBO, Obamacare will reduce the size of the U.S. labor force by 2.5 million full-time-equivalent workers.
That’s roughly triple what the CBO had estimated three years ago.
Such a sizeable decline in the labor force will have substantial detrimental effects on the U.S. economic and fiscal picture.
But the CBO wasn’t responsible for the most amazing thing that happened yesterday.
That title belongs to the Obama White House, where Press Secretary Jay Carney claimed that 2.5 million Americans leaving the workforce was a good thing, because they would no longer be “trapped in a job.”

City News Service reports the judge ruled Tuesday after attorneys for the city of Los Angeles asked for the injunction.
The California Heritage Market, operated by the West Coast Collective, opened for business in Boyle Heights over the Fourth of July weekend, attracting big crowds hoping to sample the offerings.
City Attorney Mike Feuer claims it runs afoul of a voter-approved measure limiting the number of dispensaries in the city and is an unauthorized use of the property.
David Welch, an attorney for West Coast Collective, says collective members who grow marijuana are allowed to sell their products to other members."

Over the last few months our attention has turned away from the economy. Not that there hasn't been other important things to worry about, presidential scandals, affronts against our first amendment rights by Obamacare and the IRS, and our fourth amendment right by the NSA, the infighting in the GOP, the IRS hiding evidence, problems overseas, the loss of US credibility, etc. and so on. A report by the CBO issued yesterday should remind us of what we've forgotten ---it's the economy stupid!
The United States is still spending too much, the economy is slowing down, entitlements are still strangling our budgets, tax rates are too high, and the national debit is threatening our future.
According to the CBO budget deficits are projected to rise steadily and, by 2039, to push federal debt held by the public up to a percentage of GDP seen only once before in U.S. history (just after World War II). The harm that such growing debt would cause to the economy is not factored into CBO’s detailed long-term projections but is considered in further analysis presented in this report.
These are the issues that the GOP needs to focus on, these are the Issues that threaten our future and the future of our children. Key points from CBO’s Long-Term Budget Outlook report:

- Now Is the Time to Act: CBO says that prompt decisions to rein in future deficits, would expand employment and economic growth.
- The Economy Is Slowing Down: CBO has again lowered its projection of GDP growth, and the average number of hours worked by Americans is shrinking.
- Spending Is Still the Problem: Major entitlements and interest on a growing stock of debt will cause real spending to soar by 27 percent over the next two decades.
- Raising Taxes Will Cost Jobs: Taxes will exceed their historic average level this year, and they are on pace to rise even further. Yet these tax increases still never match the pace of spending, even while they discourage work, saving, and investment.
- Entitlement Reform Is Key: We run the risk of breaking our promise to seniors and future generations if we don’t reform our entitlement programs soon. CBO has increased their measure of Social Security’s unfunded liability by 25 percent.
- The Debt Threatens Our National Security: CBO warns that our growing national debt could compromise national security by constraining defense spending and limiting the country’s ability to prepare for future challenges.
“If this report tells us anything, it’s that the status quo isn’t working, and families are paying the price. We need to expand opportunity for everyone in this country, and we can start by getting federal spending and debt under control.
