Rush Limbaugh destroys virtue-signaling with ribbons video - TheBlaze:
In a video clip from nearly three decades ago, the legendary Rush Limbaugh was able to obliterate the concept of virtue-signaling, and did so in 45 seconds.
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines virtue-signaling as: "The act or practice of conspicuously displaying one's awareness of and attentiveness to political issues, matters of social and racial justice, etc., especially instead of taking effective action."
According to an article in the Boston Globe, the word "virtue-signaling" first surfaced in online message boards in 2004.

How a sand battery could transform clean energy - BBC Future
How a sand battery could transform clean energy - BBC Future - By Erika
- The challenge is how to provide a year-round, steady power supply from renewable energy during changing seasons and variable weather conditions.
- The answer nestling in Vatajankoski power plant, 270 km (168 miles) north-west of Finland's capital, Helsinki, is remarkably simple, abundant and cheap: sand.
"The Vatajankoski power plant is home to the world's first commercial-scale sand battery.
Fully enclosed in a 7m (23ft)-high steel container, the battery consists of 100 tonnes of low-grade builders' sand, two district heating pipes and a fan.
The sand becomes a battery after it is heated up to 600C using electricity generated by wind turbines and solar panels in Finland, brought by Vatajankoski, the owners of the power plant...
"Historically illiterate"-----David McCullough on What's Wrong with History Education Today - Intellectual Takeout
David McCullough on What's Wrong with History Education Today - Intellectual Takeout"In an interview conducted by the Wall Street Journal in 2011, McCullough had some very interesting critiques of modern history education, which I share below.
- Regarding the historical knowledge of youth today: “I know how much these young people—even at the most esteemed institutions of higher learning—don’t know.”
- On the prevalent method of teaching history: “History is often taught in categories—women’s history, African American history, environmental history—so that many of the students have no sense of chronology. They have no idea what followed what.”
- On the content of contemporary history textbooks: “[They are] so politically correct as to be comic. Very minor characters that are currently fashionable are given considerable space, whereas people of major consequence farther back are given very little space or none at all.”...

DA Brooke Jenkins won't turn over illegal alien who allegedly attacked Pelosi's husband to ICE, claiming San Francisco is a 'sanctuary city' - TheBlaze:
The very policy House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has long supported may ultimately be the same that keeps her husband's alleged attacker in the country. District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said she won't turn over Canadian national David DePape to federal authorities for deportation, citing San Francisco's sanctuary city status.

Big Picture, 2022 Midterm Elections Highlight the Distinct Difference Between Ballots and Votes - The Last Refuge"As the political discussion centers on the 2022 wins and losses from the midterm election, one thing that stands out in similarity to the 2020 general election is the difference between ballots and votes.
It appears in some states this is the ‘new normal.’
- Where votes were the focus, the Biden administration suffered losses.
- Where ballots were the focus, the Biden administration won.
Perhaps the two states most reflective of ‘ballots’ being more important than ‘votes’ are Michigan and Pennsylvania...
Whitmer and Fetterman were not campaigning for votes, that is old school.
Whitmer and Fetterman were not campaigning for votes, that is old school.
Instead, the machinery behind both candidates focused on the modern path.
The Democrat machines in both states focused on ballot collection and ignored the irrelevant votes as cast...
- The effort to attain votes for candidates is less important than the strategy of collecting ballots.
- It should be emphasized; these are two distinctly different election systems...

FLASHBACK: Here are 35 times the MSM got away with spreading 'sinister misinformation' - TheBlaze
FLASHBACK: Here are 35 times the MSM got away with spreading 'sinister misinformation' - TheBlaze:
Then, over the weekend, the New York Times deemed it "misinformation" to even question anything about the violent attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband and accused 21 right-wingers — including Glenn Beck — of circulating "vicious" and "sinister" falsehoods. This is the same New York Times that has published a long list of stories that later turned out to be completely false in just the last few years.
So on the radio program Monday, Glenn listed at least 35 times the media got it all wrong and asked, "Now, who's the threat to our Democracy again?"

California doctors sue Gov. Newsom over 'misinformation' law that would discipline physicians who provide COVID advice contrary to 'contemporary scientific consensus' - TheBlaze:
A group of five licensed physicians filed a lawsuit on Wednesday against Governor Gavin Newsom (D) and the Medical Board of California regarding a law they claimed would violate their First Amendment rights and constitutional right to due process.
Newsom signed the law in September, and it is set to take effect in January. It would allow the Medical Board of California and the Osteopathic Medical Board of California to take disciplinary action against physicians who provide patients with "misinformation" about COVID-19.

"It was expected that Newspeak would have finally superseded Oldspeak (or Standard English, as we should call it) by about the year 2050.
The purpose of Newspeak was not only to provide a medium of expression for the world-view and mental habits proper to the devotees of Ingsoc, but to make all other modes of thought impossible.
The C vocabulary was supplementary to the others and consisted entirely of scientific and technical terms. These resembled the scientific terms in use today, and were constructed from the same roots, but the usual care was taken to define them rigidly and strip them of undesirable meanings.
War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength."
