If they knew what the East German government did to their Olympic women athletes in the 1970s and 1980s, for instance, they might understand why it’s not fair for transgender men to compete against women in sports like swimming, tennis and surfing.
- Today there is so little outrage in the sports world about how transgender policies are hurting women athletes and making a national joke of women’s sporting events.

- In the 1970s and 1980s the country’s women’s swim team dominated the world, breaking most of the women’s records and taking most of the medals at the Olympics.
- Everyone knew why its masculine women swimmers were so good — and why many were sprouting facial hair. They were being doped.
- From an early age, and mostly without their parents’ consent or knowledge, East German girls were being forced by their trainers to take growth hormones and testosterone, the male sex hormone.

The legislation requires any dog traveling in a motor vehicle to be "secured in a crate" and "restrained safely with a harness or pet seat belt" or controlled by a person who isn't driving.
The bill outlaws cat declawing as well, with the possibility of a $5,000 fine for each violation of the act, along with a possible revocation of a veterinarian license.
The proposed legislation is also looking to ban the sale of rabbits in March and April, as well as at any "flea market, in private parking lots, or at any open-air venue, such as parades, concerts, and festivals."

Shakir Khan, 33, was first elected to serve on the city council of Lodi, California, about 15 miles north of Stockton, in 2020. Like many city council races, his election was close. The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office estimated that he won the seat by just 282 votes.
