"New Groningen kindergarten teachers in Grand Rapids, Michigan caused some consternation amongst parents recently with a letter they sent home that banned the game of tag and other chase-oriented games.
The letter described the problem of children, "running in packs, pushing, knocking other children over, and making the game dangerous," which as we recall, was half the fun of the game.
"We want our children to treat each other with respect, kindness, and with safety in mind," said Ginger Smith, community relationship manager for Zeeland Public Schools, on Friday, in an attempt to clarify the situation.
Apparently, neither the school nor the district have received any direct complaints from parents regarding the policy, but at least one did contact the media."

Congressional Republicans who want legislative conditions in exchange for a debt-limit increase are following a strategy that has been pursued by both parties the majority of the time. Of the 53 increases in the debt limit, 26 were "clean"—that is, stand-alone, no strings-attached statutes. The remaining debt-limit increases were part of an omnibus package of other legislative bills or a continuing resolution. Other times, the limit was paired with reforms, only some of which were related to the budget.In 1979, a Democratic Congress increased the debt limit but required Congress and the president to present balanced budgets for fiscal years 1981 and 1982. In 1980 the debt limit, again increased by a Democratic Congress, included repeal of an oil-import fee. At some point our creditors are going to pull the plug.
They understand that the $200 trillion in obligations we have will never be met. Countries like Russia, China, and even the private central banking conglomerates are positioning their chess pieces right now for when this day comes.
The end result is going to widespread financial and economy destruction, a meltdown of the U.S. dollar, and a collapse of our very way of life as tens of millions of Americans will be instantly impoverished.
Economic analyst John Williams has warned that when it does finally happen, we can fully expect disruptions to our food supplies and the normal flow of commerce.
Without the U.S. dollar as a viable mechanism of exchange, such a scenario could very quickly lead to civil unrest, violence, and widespread looting.

And does that perhaps have something to do with Obama’s backing down on his vow not to talk with Congressional Republicans?

I remember the very first time in my life when I was called a racist. (Mind you, I am no spring chicken either.)
It was in 2008 during campaign season when it became official that Barack Obama would face John McCain in the fight for the office of the President.
I was having coffee with my friend Jackie who early on appeared to be leaning on the fence regarding which candidate would get her vote. Apparently she had listened to a few of Obama’s speeches and to my dismay, she was suddenly part of a movement that would sweep the nation and elect then-Senator Barack Obama as president.
She knew nothing about him, couldn’t name one of his accomplishments and had no knowledge of his voting record during the short time that he was in office.
Her only defense was that she “liked what he said” and that she was tired of the “rich” Republicans and their “disregard for the poor”.
I remember asking her what she knew of him and what experience he may have had that would qualify him for the job.
It seemed that the more I pressed her, the more defensive she became.
I reminded her that Hitler gave good speeches and history will tell you what happens when you follow a man who only tells you what you want to hear.
Unfortunately, that must have been the straw that broke the camel’s back because the next words out of my friend’s mouth were accusations that I was a racist, merely because I didn’t like her candidate!
I remember the very first time in my life when I was called a racist. (Mind you, I am no spring chicken either.)
It was in 2008 during campaign season when it became official that Barack Obama would face John McCain in the fight for the office of the President.
I was having coffee with my friend Jackie who early on appeared to be leaning on the fence regarding which candidate would get her vote. Apparently she had listened to a few of Obama’s speeches and to my dismay, she was suddenly part of a movement that would sweep the nation and elect then-Senator Barack Obama as president.
She knew nothing about him, couldn’t name one of his accomplishments and had no knowledge of his voting record during the short time that he was in office.
Her only defense was that she “liked what he said” and that she was tired of the “rich” Republicans and their “disregard for the poor”.
I remember asking her what she knew of him and what experience he may have had that would qualify him for the job.
It seemed that the more I pressed her, the more defensive she became.
I reminded her that Hitler gave good speeches and history will tell you what happens when you follow a man who only tells you what you want to hear.
Unfortunately, that must have been the straw that broke the camel’s back because the next words out of my friend’s mouth were accusations that I was a racist, merely because I didn’t like her candidate!
