During an interview broadcast on Friday’s “PBS NewsHour,” Coronavirus Task Force member Dr. Anthony Fauci stated that without China’s “delay in transparency” on the coronavirus, “other countries would have maybe been more quick on the trigger to try and inhibit travel from China to their country.” Fauci also stated that nothing “would have prevented the spread of this virus.”

"This lawsuit redresses a pointless and arbitrary attack on the constitutional rights of New York citizens and residents," the suit said.
"Defendant Cuomo effectively and indefinitely suspended a key component of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution -- shutting down all gun stores in the State of New York, including federally licensed gun stores, by deeming them 'non-essential' businesses."

  • ‘This is not about children; it’s about increasing government control’
Hundreds of licensed child day care providers in Michigan have been quietly ordered to eliminate the disciplinary tool of enforcing timeouts for unruly children under the age of 3.

The rationale: Such measures are “unlikely [to] prevent repeat misbehavior” and can leave a toddler “upset, confused and angry.”
The new regulation was
enacted by the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs in December and implemented over the last few months..."

"As we reported earlier Sweden is taking a different approach in battling the coronavirus pandemic.
The country remains open for business and life goes on as usual with few restrictions.
The political leaders are placing responsibility on the individual.
The government is largely leaving decisions over self-isolation and social distancing up to the citizens. BBC notes that almost half of Stockholm residents are working remotely, and that traffic is quieter than usual.
And after several weeks of their experiment it appears Sweden is doing no worse than any other advanced country...

The mysterious case of the people who ate fish tank cleaner - American Thinker
See the source image"Shortly after President Trump touted chloroquine as a potential cure for COVID-19, the media triumphantly reported that a man had died from taking homemade chloroquine due to Trump's recommendation.
It turned out that the man's wife fed him some fish tank cleaner.
She even partook of it with him, except that he died while she didn't.
As a dedicated murder mystery reader, I didn't blame Trump.
My suspicions were focused elsewhere.
It turns out that my instincts may have been right on the money.
Here's the story the drive-by media didn't tell you..."
...This NPR tweet is a stand-in for what all the media outlets were doing:
An Arizona man is died of a heart attack and his wife was hospitalized after the couple ingested a type of chloroquine, a chemical that has been hailed recently by President Trump as a possible "game changer" in the fight against novel coronavirus. https://t.co/ItBLKqac8B
— NPR (@NPR) March 24, 2020
Even as that lie was racing around the world, the truth was struggling to get out.  In this case, the truth was that the couple hadn't taken chloroquine at all.
Instead, they'd ingested a fish tank cleaner that had "chloroquine phosphate," a deadly chemical.
Even though a fish tank cleaner has nothing to do with a long recognized and legal anti-malarial drug, the media and the woman herself pushed the anti-Trump narrative.
Indeed, the woman explicitly condemned Trump: "Don't believe anything that the President says and his people."...

How do you measure success or failure in a situation like this?---Fans of Best of the Web Today

Fans of Best of the Web Today--Michael Smith
"To the folks claiming that President Trump has failed in the government's response to the pandemic - just a couple of questions, if I may - and one I have asked several people who say the President is "failing' or "has failed" - and not received a real answer:
How do you measure success or failure in a situation like this?
By what metric do you define success or failure?

  • I've been told the mortality rates of this virus can't be compared to the flu because it is far deadlier and then people use those same numbers to say this pandemic is so much worse.
  • I'm told I can't compare Obama's six month delay in declaring a national health emergency in the 2009 H1N1 pandemic with Trump's declaration 6 weeks after a similar declaration by Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, a declaration noting the novel coronavirus as a public health emergency in the United States.
  • I'm told that the President banning flights from China (less than 2 weeks after the first case was officially diagnosed in the US) was moving too slow after having people on the record saying they were unnessary and were just expressions of racism and xenophobia from a racist and xenophobic president.

You can understand my confusion - unless, of course, you aren't interested in reality and just want to try to dunk on Trump..."

China's early coronavirus victory lap, misleading data hurting global response | Fox News

News that Chinese officials have ordered a county in central China back on lockdown has some questioning whether President Xi Jinping and the Communist Party took its coronavirus victory lap too soon and what that might mean for other countries using China's template.
U.S. Vice President Mike Pence said Thursday that had China been truly transparent about COVID-19, there is "no question" the world would have been in a better place to respond.

DEAR JOURNALISTS:
IF YOU DON’T WANT PEOPLE TO THINK OF YOU AS GARBAGE, STOP BEING GARBAGE.
THANKS, BYE.
WaPo’s Glenn Kessler Caught in Embarrassing Self-Own After RTing (RT=retweet) Dr. Critical of Trump’s Wuhan Virus Response.
“As I’ve said before, when it comes to the so-called ‘fact checkers’ in the media, I find the Washington Post’s Glenn Kessler hit or miss – but mostly miss.
Over the last few weeks as the Trump administration has ramped up its efforts to combat the Wuhan coronavirus, Kessler has engaged in a series of missteps (to put it charitably) when it comes to analyzing their efforts. . . . It would be nice going forward if Kessler would actually dissect claims before sharing them with his followers, which is what an actual fact-checker would do.”
The origins of “fact check” journalism explain why it doesn’t actually check facts.
When the GOP discovered that negative ads were a way to end-run the Democrat-favoring media, the media responded with “fact checks” intended to neutralize those ads.
It’s always been a partisan messaging gig, not about finding the truth in which, as Kessler keeps demonstrating, they’re not especially interested.---Posted by

Image result for Wikicommons Gretchen Whitmer Michigan Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s administration has requested an emergency supply of the drugs President Trump touted as having success treating patients with severe symptoms of the novel coronavirus, in a reversal from the state's directive to medical professionals last week to avoid the medication for this purpose.
Michigan, this week, requested hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine from the Strategic National Stockpile for physicians to use to help treat patients with COVID-19, after the Food and Drug Administration over the weekend granted an emergency use authorization for the anti-malarial drugs.

"In a press conference this afternoon, Governor Jared Polis stated that all Coloradans need to wear non-medical face masks that cover the nose and mouth while in public conducting essential tasks, including grocery shopping and working.
He recommended people make their own masks, possibly out of old t-shirts.
Scarves are also acceptable.
...Polis also encouraged people to make the best of the situation stating “let’s make it cool.”
He also encouraged people to post their creative masks on social media.
It is unclear if wearing will be enforced or remain as a request."
