San Fran bigots!----- GREAT MOMENTS IN COVER STORIES: High-end coffee company Blue Bottle will ban cash at 12 locations…

Instapundit  Blog Archive  GREAT MOMENTS IN COVER STORIES
See the source image"High-end coffee company Blue Bottle will ban cash at 12 locations across the country starting on March 11 as part of a month-long experiment that aims to speed up purchases, the San Francisco Chronicle reports:
Two of Blue Bottle’s San Francisco locations, at 1355 Market St. and 2 South Park, will participate.
“Credit card transactions are smoother for both our guests and the baristas,” said Shawna Sharie, vice president of retail for Blue Bottle, which is headquartered in Oakland and majority-owned by Swiss food giant NestlĂ©.
The move reflects a growing cashless trend across the restaurant industry, which is eager to make service more efficient. But that trend has also triggered a backlash from those who say banning cash excludes people unable to obtain credit cards or other electronic payment methods...
On Twitter, Rob Province, aka, “Educated Hillbilly” asks, “Am I a total racist for thinking this is a way to keep poor & minority customers out of their hip San Francisco coffee shop?”
Not at all.
Beyond that, as Glenn noted in December, “This is mostly a stealthy way to keep homeless people out.”

See California or New York for what happens when you subsidize poverty by offering “support” to all comers.

Greg Harvey shared a link.
"Let’s discuss this honestly: our Earned Income Tax Credit seeks to do the same thing as Universal Basic Income by bundling the subsidy as an incentive to those who work.
It lowers their labor rate while ensuring adequate support especially for households with dependents.
True conservatives can understand economic arguments and at least acknowledge when they work.
EITC works by assuring a worker has access by not being priced out of the labor market to acquiring and refreshing essential work skills.
UBI? There is very little to hope for the efficacy of a direct transfer payment other than this: conservatives understand the value of block grants: it gets the federal government out of the business of determining how the states solve specific problems.
Generally less red tape is better.
I do not believe UBI—anymore than food stamps—would be essentially improved by additional regulation on how it is used.
I also am skeptical of whether it is sustainable.
See California or New York for what happens when you subsidize poverty by offering “support” to all comers.
You get more comers than you could ever imagine to the point that your more valued residents become goers."

Average tax refund jumps to $3,100, dents Democrat claims of tax cut trickery - Washington Times

Average tax refund jumps to $3,100, dents Democrat claims of tax cut trickery - Washington Times:

Image result for flickr commons images IRS Tax forms 2018The average tax refund so far this filing season is more than $3,100, the Treasury Department reported Thursday, putting things on track and denting Democrats’ claims that the 2017 tax cuts were actually hurting Americans’ wallets.
Returns are still coming in more slowly than in 2018, and not as many have been finalized by the IRS.
But the average refund is $3,143, topping last year’s $3,103.
That’s a major change from just a week ago, when the average refund was about $2,600 — and some prominent Democrats suggested the 2017 tax overhaul had backfired.

The Migrant Mind: How Synthetic is the Keeling curve?
While tooling around the internet, I ran into a report about an upcoming article in Geophysical Research Letters.
“To assess whether the airborne fraction is indeed increasing, Wolfgang Knorr of the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Bristol reanalyzed available atmospheric carbon dioxide and emissions data since 1850 and considers the uncertainties in the data.

In contradiction to some recent studies, he finds that the airborne fraction of carbon dioxide has not increased either during the past 150 years or during the most recent five decades.

The research is published in Geophysical Research Letters.

I was surprised to learn that someone thought that CO2 hadn't gone up. After all we have the famous Keeling Curve.

It has wonderful geometric beauty, and that implies a certitude about the CO2 levels.
...Clearly the Keeling curve looks artificial compared to the other stations on earth.
One could say that maybe the other researchers are simply incompetent, but that seems harsh.
Why is the Keeling curve so regular, especially since it is sitting on a volcano that occasionally spews out additional CO2?
In 40 years has not one single measurment been taken when the volcano was blowing additional CO2 towards the station?
That seems highly unlikely..."

Watch: UCLA Students Support Concentration Camps For Trump Supporters
"Kaitlin Bennett went undercover at UCLA as Jenna Talia to ask students to sign a petition to throw conservatives into involuntary re-education camps.
Not only were the students she approached ecstatic to sign it, but one member of UCLA’s student government encouraged her to change the language to “diversity” and “sensitivity training” to hide their real intentions so the administration would approve it..."

Lynne Patton: Michael Cohen Flipped on Trump because Mueller Threatened to Jail His Wife for 30 Years

Lynne Patton: Michael Cohen Flipped on Trump because Mueller Threatened to Jail His Wife for 30 Years
"Now this…
Conservative Treehouse posted an interesting update to this story.
Lynne Patton was a dear friend with Michael Cohen at the Trump family business.
Patton knew Cohen was under pressure and said in January on Facebook that Cohen flipped on Trump because Mueller threatened to jail his wife for 30 years.
See the source imageLynne Patton: […] 3) Many of you may already know that I considered Michael Cohen to be one of my very best friends. Countless people can confirm that we were virtually inseparable during my employment at Trump – and that he is, single-handedly – responsible for introducing me to the Trump family and effectively changing my entire life. I would be lying if I didn’t admit that my heart still breaks for him and for his family, with whom I had grown extremely close.
4) What many of you may not be aware of is the fact that I can personally confirm that the ONLY reason Michael Cohen “turned on” the President of the United States is because Mueller threatened to throw his wife in jail for up to 30 years. Period. She is the co-guarantor of a $20M personal loan that Mueller discovered Michael secured back in 2015 by falsely inflating the value of his taxi medallions – effectively making her part & parcel to the federal charge of “Making False Statements to a Financial Institution,” to which Cohen ultimately plead guilty. This is also the reason why Cohen’s longtime taxi medallion partner, Evgeny “Gene” Freidman, was granted immunity. (read more)...

Live on TV: The shame and disintegration of the Democratic Party

Live on TV: The shame and disintegration of the Democratic Party:

Image result for flickr commons images clownsIf their behavior at the Kavanaugh hearings that they engineered with a hoax accusation did not convince people of the craven unscrupulousness of the Democratic Party, the clown show Democrats put on Wednesday certainly will.
While the president is out of the country on a crucial foreign policy mission, the Democrats colluded with Tom Steyer and lowlife Clinton operative Lanny Davis to once more try to convince the public that Trump should be impeached.  To that end, they brought the loathsome Michael Cohen, already convicted of lying to Congress and a host of other financial crimes, to testify to "crimes" committed by the president.  Cohen admitted that he was prepped for the hearings by Trump-deranged Adam Schiff, Elijah Cummings, and Davis.

California Refused 5.6K Requests to Turn over Criminal Illegals to Feds

California Refused 5.6K Requests to Turn over Criminal Illegals to Feds:

“Its own deputy almost got killed as a result of its refusal to honor ICE detainer requests,” Wilcox said. “And this individual had been deported three times in the past … so they say there’s no need emergency or need for a wall, this criminal alien is just walking back into the country.”
ICE had requested four separate times that Hernandez-Morales be turned over to them to be arrested and deported back to Mexico.

Is a Second Civil War Coming?

See the source imageIs a Second Civil War Coming?
"Civil wars are horrendous and bloody affairs.
That's why we should avoid them.
They happen when two sides cannot settle on who runs the country.
When they can't reconcile the matter through elections, the country falls apart.
When one side does not accept the election results, we have a countdown to a civil war.
This is the thesis put forth by journalist Daniel Greenfield.
It rings true on many levels.
Does the fact that Democrats are rejecting a duly elected Republican president really mean they don't accept the results of any election they don't win?
If so, we may be already nearing America's Second Civil War..."

The Green New Gulag

"When Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Senator Ed Markey rolled out their Green New Deal (GND) in February, they put flesh on the bones of a policy that formerly was only a pie-in-the-sky proposal promoted by the Green Party.
This Green Party proposal was a wish list from an expansionist government agenda floated by Democrat Socialists and the far-left wing of the Democrat Party over the last 20-or-so years.
The Green Party proposal went beyond replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy (no nukes) to include supplanting “non-essential means of transportation” with modern mass transit (no more trips to Home Depot for you!), 50% reduction in military spending (no more wars for oil), no home foreclosures, forgiveness of all college loans and a public jobs program.
...Big-ticket items related to energy and environment include:

  • · Complete transformation to renewable energy for the power demand sector; that means no electricity from natural gas, coal or oil
  • · Building of a new electric “smart grid” to provide “affordable” energy
  • · Upgrading of every existing building in the United States while dictating strict new efficiency codes for new construction
  • · Expanding high speed rail to a scale that obviates air travel..."

Why My Wife And I Decided To Abort Our Unborn Gay Son

Why My Wife And I Decided To Abort Our Unborn Gay Son:
  • Even Richard Dawkins tweeted it would be immoral to have a child who would suffer because of his genetics. I’m sure we’re on solid ground here.
...We decided to get full fetal blood work done.
Everyone’s doing it; the doctor said there is little risk to the fetus, and better safe than sorry, right?
...Well, got the blood work results, and there’s good news and bad news.
Image result for My Wife And I Decided To Abort Our Unborn Gay SonGood news: It’s a boy and he’s healthy.
Bad news: He’s gay.
I didn’t even know there was a blood test for that now, but I guess it’s new?
They found the genes that cause homosexuality and they test for them now.
I’m a really tolerant person, but this has made me think hard.
I don’t know how I feel about trying to raise a gay son.
Will I be able to relate to him?
Won’t his life be super hard?
I know things are getting better for gay people, but it seems to me that being gay is really hard in the South, where we live.
...This really started to weigh on my mind, so I did some research.
Suicide attempts are significantly higher among gay teens—five times more likely.
...Another study found that any kind of victimization at school leads to much higher risks of substance abuse.
...What kind of life will my gay son have?
...When we got there, we found that someone had firebombed our rented townhouse and wrote “Bigotry Doesn’t Belong Here!” and “Love Wins!” in spray paint on the sidewalk.
I guess some fetuses are more equal than others, but I can’t understand it.
I just followed all the arguments I’ve heard from our society to their logical conclusions."
